Yep. I wonder if Ricoh vanity is based in something? Is there a corporate need to mark territory? Is it something Japanese or specific to Ricoh?
Because Ricoh branding the P&S with Ricoh brand is some sort of vanity? LOL Where's the pride in Pentax P&S line for years?

Let's hope this in NOT gonna change with next DSLR model.
Then I'd actually agree with you, to some extend.

In my opinion, to modify a quote is inadmissible. And your entire post is offensive to many people.
Where ?

Vanity? Can you give us an example of any product you have ever purchased that did not have the company name on it. Car, watch, TV, microwave? Even Hershey chocolate bars have the name molded into them.

Ricoh is certainly less known than Pentax in cameras...
I think it depends in areas and generations.
If I ask the kids in class, I'm sure that if only one is known, it is Ricoh, not specially for cameras, indeed but that's how a Canon has a strong brand identity: they are everywhere. Apple works same way.

Mono...Pentax outside of our little cache gets me the following comments when I am out and about.

"Pentax, my first camera was a Pentax".
"Pentax, they make great cameras, I didn't know of the K**"
"Wow, this Pentax feels GREAT".
"Those pictures..did they come from a Nikon?..Pentax? Wow!"
"Those pictures..did they come from a Canon?..Pentax? Wow!"

Everywhere I go, I get positive comments about Pentax.

So whatever "market research" you are quoting is wrong. Plain wrong.
Maybe in your neck of the woods.

Again and again, so many people want Pentaxians to roll over and give up.

It won't happen that way.

Sometimes Mono, I wonder if you are a paid Ricoh person.
Did they give you some promo material?
A free camera? Lens maybe?
I have seen a few Pentaxians with little "gifts", and their loyalty can be bought, mine can't.

Have you never fought for something solely based on passion?
Fight along side us, if you believe in Pentax.

Don't keep making excuses for Ricoh.
Lauren, are you proving the point that Pentax doesn't have much recognition? Otherwise, you might get the comment "Those pictures... did they come from a Pentax?"

White label products like a Hasselblad.

There are plenty of instances though where you have different brands catering to different market segments like Scion, Toyota, Lexus.

And there is a whole global banking and legal industry built around hiding ownership of companies.

I'm counting one offended person, would you kindly point me to the others?

I wonder if the PENTAX 645D 2014 has Ricoh printed under the tilting LCD.
