We are still wating for the firmware upgrade to be released, But the RICOH home page clearly states:

"*The camera’s firmware must be updated to the latest version before using the autofocus function. Compatible camera bodies are: K-3, K-50, K-500, K-30, K-5 II, K-5 II s, K-5, K-01, K-7, and K-r. Autofocus is possible with a PENTAX lens having maximum aperture of f/4 or brighter."

That could just mean that the cameras firmware must be updated to the latest (current) version before using the autofocus. Perhaps it had already been included in anticipation of the converters release.

I received a notification in an email from Henry's, I should get a notification form Canada Post sometime in the next 24 hrs.

Like everything else, I'm sure the price will come down. I paid $600 for my 18-135, now you can get it for $400. I pre-ordered my K-3. I can get it for $200 less now. I just don't seem to be able to stop myself. Maybe when it get's here I'll start a Pentax gear porn site. Y'all can send me $5 a month to look at pictures of it. Oh, wait that should be plural, that should be "all of y'all".

I just sent an email to Henry's, pleading for the TC to be shipped before I leave for vacation in two weeks. Here's the response:
"Your item is still in the order pipe and is expected to arrive within the next 4 weeks."

Walked into the local London Drugs today and ordered the FluCard and the 1.4x HD rear converter. Both are in stock and will be ready for pickup locally within a week.

My order was placed Feb. 7 from the website.... I assume that whatever the first batch was, it didn't cover your order... either that or they just won't figure it out for you. Mine hasn't made it to Canda Post yet, so it's possible they haven't completely shipped the first batch yet.

Yeah, the prices usually come down a bit but I have a feeling that this new TC just might stay at a hefty price for a long time if it happens to become a very "hot" item.
Spending $600 on this vs. buying a 500mm lens at $6000 (Sigma 500/4.5) makes more sense, financially that is. However, having a 420mm reach (DA*300/4 + 1.4x TC) is also very good.
As I said, as long as the TC has great IQ, I will certainly be a buyer regardless of the price.

Looking forward to the Pentax gear "porn" site .... make sure it becomes a "sticky"!

Good news for those who will receive their TC within a few days now ... the cam's will be ready for it.
Meanwhile, I'll be patiently waiting for some images resulting from this TC and (any) lens combo.

I have way to many camera bodies... I just did the upgrades on the K-x, 2 K-5s , the K-01 and the K-3... now I should get to my sister's and do her K20D.

Hi Norm...if you have the AF 1.7 TC as well would love a test between the 2 TC's,as I hope its better for my DA*300.. price here is $440 + shipping + told till US..not sure if cheaper in the end
