I've posted the images from my own tests, showing that using the TC does not reduce image quality. That in fact as the length of the lens increases the quality a small centre portion of the image increases, with the longer lens used, regardless of whether or not a tac is involved in the process. This "aTC degrades the image quality, only applies to cheap glass. On my $1400 DA*60-250 or my Tamron 90 or Sigma 70, the lenses are sharp enough that expanding them 1.4 times doesn't affect resolution.... how many times do I have to post this stuff, in how many threads...
It's amazing how many people use cheap TCs with cheap glass, and then post like they know something about good TCs used with good glass. No one would dream of coming on here and saying you can't get a good image with a DA*300 because they can't get one with their 300mm lens and neglect to mention that the lens they tested on was a Sigma 70-300. Yet on TCs everyone seems to think because they've used a cheap one, they are now qualified to comment on all of them. It's BS.
The facts....
OK, since I was interested, I went out again... this time, 3 shots at each setting picked the best of each,
The scene shot at 250mm.
The test chart, cropped to the size of the chart @250mm.
The test chart, cropped to the size of the chart @350mm. DA*60-250 + 1.4
The test chart, cropped to the size of the chart @400 mm (A-400)
The test chart, cropped to the size of the chart @450mm. DA* 60-250 + F 1.7 TC
The test chart, cropped to the size of the chart @560 mm (A-400 +1.4 TC)
The trend seems to be a constant improvement with longer focal length. No apparent degradation of the image due to TC use.
I guess I'll just keep posting this test as long as people keep repeating the TC's ruin your IQ nonsense.
