Cross post from 300 plus thread, these are DA*300 with the HD1.4x on the K-3.
It seems like a good match. This was my first day out with the combo and I was pleased with the performance of the equipment.
Now I have nothing to blame for poor shots but myself.

Good thing you had the TC! Any closer and the big guy would've eaten you!

(nice shot, BTW)

The first one is very nice, some great detail in there.

For anyone interested I started a thread in the lens club section for the converter. LINK

The more the merrier.

The results of the new converter look good. Both B&H and Adorama show them in pre-order status. TheCameraBox, through Amazon, shows 5 in stock. Can anyone recommend a trustworthy and reliable seller in the USA with the converters in stock?

I had to order mine from Canada. I'm in California.
Prodigital2000 was the eBay seller, it was listed at 80 less than the US sellers with free shipping.
I've purchased from them before and have had no issues. Box was well packed and arrived on schedule.
YMMV

Edit: They have another one up http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-HD-PENTAX-DA-AF-1-4X-AW-Rear-Converter-K-mount-L...item4865cad299

I purchased my first one from B&H, I got on the waiting list early. Liked it so much that I went searching for a second one. Ended up getting that from TheCameraBox through Amazon. Stacking didn't work as well as I hoped and their return policy was something like 10 days and a 15% restocking fee so I will likely try to sell it here.

Rochester, MN? Me too, from your screen name have a feeling we have worked together before...

Thanks Adam pretty thorough review. From what I've followed on the forum the TC seems to work with the Sigma 500. I particularly like it for the DA*300 since the 300 by itself is a pretty light walk around telephoto and the TC can add that extra reach without carrying a larger lens. I am adding to my list for Santa Claus.

Prodigital2000 is awesome, I got mine for 520.00CAD but I am a pretty good customer and have dealt with them for most of my Pentax gear.

Hey Travis, still pleased with the way the TC works with the Sigma 500?

I have barely used it since I have been working six days a week but I have no regrets buying it.

Does anyone know if this new teleconverter will work with the Sigma 50-500 OS HSM (the newer version) ?

If not, why not?

Thanks much
