It doesn't gnaw at my gut, make me grind my teeth, give me a Love/Hate relationship with my K-lenses like I had before. If they bring it - maybe I'll buy one, maybe I won't. Maybe I'll buy new lenses, maybe I won't...
I agree with that thought as well. But let us not be foolish to dismiss the idea that Pentax did not lose a valuable and important layer of users, and self-esteem, during the last several years because it was unable to provide a level of an experience in between the ever-cheaper APS-C, and the 645.
That gap needs to be bridged somehow, and if Ricoh has a plan, I’m quite keen to listen to it. For an entity that had defined the 35mm standard and became a legend, Pentax cannot stay shy and away from it. It has a commitment, and a duty, and people will welcome it.
Their foray into the 35mm digital users will accept differently, and from what I see many are and always were subconsciously expecting from Pentax something
entirely different than what Nikon or Canon can imagine. Something that breaks the mould, something that is exciting, something with purpose.
That is the strength Pentax has — a considerable amount on users’ emotive bank account. It is time Pentax cashes in on that.
