A film duplicator of that dimensions will not be cheap. Look at medium format macro bellows.
Again, does anyone know how this compare to a film scanner?

The responsiveness of the original 645D was it's greatest weakness IMO. (Yes i have shot one)

Pål: let's wait until we know whether the new lens covers full frame FF!

I guess they have to go with what sensors are available. I'm no expert, but upping the size to full 645 might be an order of magnitude more expensive.

Good to see things happening, even if there isn't anything for me here yet. Maybe except for the duplicator - could solve my problem with finding a decent scanner. I wonder if the DFA 100 will be too long...

Ok, and the TC - if I should ever get myself a DA*300.

New Pentax 645D2014 also uses the 50MP Sony CMOS sensor!

At the end it looks like every medium format camera maker will use the new Sony 50 Megapixel CMOS sensor! Pentax Ricoh announced the new Pentax 645D 2014 medium format camera that uses the Sony sensor just like the new Hasselblad and Phase One cameras.

This is the official info about the camera from Ricoh-Pentax:

Model name (tentative): PENTAX 645D 2014
• Latest, super-high-resolution CMOS image sensor
• High-speed response in a variety of photographic applications
• Tilt-type LCD monitor
• Market launch scheduled for Spring 2014

I feel that's going to be the new mantra - Pentax must make a 645D FF or be doomed!

It is actually far more serious than the lack of FF in K-mount. There are fewer lenses for 645 with the risk of making your lens collection awkward with a cropped sensor. In addition, there is the wide angle issue: the 25mm weights in excess of 1kg and costs $5000 - both factors makes it totally uninteresting for me. I'm not willing to carry this sort of bulk and weight, in addition to a large and heavy camera + the other lenses, not to mention the cost.

BTW I have a 645NII with four lenses: 33-55, 75, 120 Macro and the 150-300. I don't use it but I'm definitely interested in the 645 digital system. Too expensive so far....

Good points! It will be interesting to see if the new lens is made for cropped sensors only.

I'm sceptical about the size of the wide angle zoom. It seems to be in the 1kg class! The film 645 system was quite compact and could replace a high-end 35mm system without significant- or any weight penalties. Eg the 33-55 weigths only 500g, less than professional grade zooms for a 35mm system.

They should make a FF 645 system (that is FF 645). In that way you wont need large and complex lenses in order to go reasonably wide. It might be cheaper too as these new lenses cost $5000+ ...
Could you please elaborate on what you mean by this? I've thought for some time that Pentax should produce something like the Leica S2. That is, cram the MF sensor into a smallish body -- perhaps going mirrorless -- and create a new mount that will accept 645 lenses via an adaptor.

This is obviously technically possible -- it has already been done. Could it be delivered at a price that would attract a reasonable marketshare? I believe so, but of course that's just my guess, perhaps coloured by wishful thinking.

But back to you: is this more or less what you have in mind?

I'm sure that SDM/ring motor + SR in lens + making it AW is putting some weight on that ZOOM. + that nobody seems to know how wide/fast it is. That should be speculated more. but you are right one KG is quite much. almost as much as fast 18-35/1.8 zoom from Sigma.
