New Pentax 645D2014 also uses the 50MP Sony CMOS sensor!

Well as of yesterday they seem to have shifted the sensor size product steps upward a tad.

There is much more than the sensor in a medium format system: lenses, flash synch. speed (leaf shutter lenses) and more.

Otherwise everybody would have bought a Pentax 645D and nobody a Hasselblad H4D-40 or H5D-40 or a PhaseOne IQ140 or the equivalent under the Mamiya brand name.

I’m new to this forum but I’ve been on the sidelines for a while due to my interest in MF. This new 645D 2014 has me so excited that I'm willing to go into debt (within reason) to have it. If it's under $12k for the body, then I would use my current rig as a pocket cam' and be as happy as a clam!

I just purchased lottery ticket(or what it is called.). Fingers crossed. If I would be in to a professional photography, I'd buy one 645 new or old(if I could make mobey with my shots.).

A swivel screen is also very useful when taking portraits with the camera on tripod.

This new EVIL type thing is just too fragile... for such a big cam.
Moreover without tripod, it is useless...

Time will tell. I'm not particularly worried.

Besides, those who don't see any interest in it won't use it. And some, if not many, when not convinced upfront, will discover usages and advantages they hadn't thought about.

How do you know this ? The camera is not available yet ?

I generally used my Mamiya medium format with tripod...but I also used it hand held with out difficulty. I had a small level affixed to it so I could quickly ensure things were level.
