Just as neatly as Full frame in e-mount
Ricoh would have put an APS-C sensor in the Q body if it were possible but the m4/3rds sensor is as big as would fit in that size body.

Form my experience using a macro lens to photograph negs and slides, resolution can be substantially better than even a dedicated, Coolscan-style scanner if you use a high quality, flat field macro lens (e.g. FA50mm macro) and stitching, but dynamic range suffers.
I've just started digitizing my slides and negatives with the da35 and a cheap led viewer. So far I get pretty good results, better than with my flatbed scanner, but I'm still in experimenting mode. To get reasonable highlight DR it seems that I should underexpose quite a bit and then lift shadows in PP (I use K-5 @iso 80).

Or maybe more so the PhaseOne users. Maybe some will even switch to Pentax.
If it's the same sensor for a fraction of the price I bet many will.

Well as of yesterday they seem to have shifted the sensor size product steps upward a tad.

There is much more than the sensor in a medium format system: lenses, flash synch. speed (leaf shutter lenses) and more.

Otherwise everybody would have bought a Pentax 645D and nobody a Hasselblad H4D-40 or H5D-40 or a PhaseOne IQ140 or the equivalent under the Mamiya brand name.

I’m new to this forum but I’ve been on the sidelines for a while due to my interest in MF. This new 645D 2014 has me so excited that I'm willing to go into debt (within reason) to have it. If it's under $12k for the body, then I would use my current rig as a pocket cam' and be as happy as a clam!

So, will the 645D 2014 shoot 4K or 8K video? Or both?

Waist-level viewing is an MF tradition:
Exactly. I used the waist level constantly when composing with my Mamiya medium format.

I just purchased lottery ticket(or what it is called.). Fingers crossed. If I would be in to a professional photography, I'd buy one 645 new or old(if I could make mobey with my shots.).

A swivel screen is also very useful when taking portraits with the camera on tripod.

I do prefer angle finder....
This new EVIL type thing is just too fragile... for such a big cam.
Moreover without tripod, it is useless...

Ah ok,

I was presuming there might be a dedicated optic in it, since it appears quite a bit larger than the old film copier/macro nbellows units I'm used to. I suppose the question then becomes, what is the thread size for the attachment? Stepping down to a 35mm/APS-C format macro should be easy enough, but would stepping up to a 645 macro with its larger filter size lead to cutting off most part of the image?
I don't think so.

Time will tell. I'm not particularly worried.

Besides, those who don't see any interest in it won't use it. And some, if not many, when not convinced upfront, will discover usages and advantages they hadn't thought about.

How do you know this ? The camera is not available yet ?

I generally used my Mamiya medium format with tripod...but I also used it hand held with out difficulty. I had a small level affixed to it so I could quickly ensure things were level.
