I've been wanting to ask, but how would the resolution on these be when done this way? I am talking about sharpness, as in pixel peeping.

Depends on your lens and the film you scan and the camera you use. A K-5 or K-3 will outresolve most 35mm film but maybe not MF film. A 645D 2014 probably will outresolve any negative or slide you throw at it. So when the lens can outresolve the sensor you get maximum results, Of course you are going to need specialized software to convert the negatives to positves. (It's called silverscan but that was developed for scanners, so not sure how it will work for sensor data)

Looks like it will do up to 6x7 at LEAST, maybe even 4x5.
It does 35mm to 6x9, but not 4x5 or larger unfortunately. Pentax said so at CP+.

I just hope that rumored $1300 price is way off. The same price as a brand new K-3 or FA31, really? No optics, no electronics...software to correct color negatives would add value though, for sure.

Still lots of unknowns here.

Right. Hopefully, things will change at the last moment in favor of what is expected.

If they were selling it for $300, some other peoples will complaint that it's still too expensive.

I can't see myself paying much more than $100 for it.

Most of the film I shot was with P&S and now when I have stuff developed I also have digital copies of it too.

Let me doubt any of the modern MF digital sensors can outresolve larger MF films as from 645 to 6x9.
The difference is even increased when using film "developers".
So i see this product more as a "medium" converter, than as an actual resolution improver...

I just found the price of the Hasselblad tilt-shift bellows in 2010: 4,500 euros. Sure it was tilt and shift, but it's still a big bellows with some adjustment knobs that accounts for the triple price.

We can value it much or nothing, but it's still an accessory of a medium format camera priced many thousands of euros. And while we can find on the used market many slide-duplicator for small format cameras, for medium format the bellows available are few, and slide duplicatore accessories even less, if not at all.

I wonder why Ricoh/Pentax stopped coming out with superzoom cameras like the X70 ? If they would have one with a 20-1200mm eqiv lens like the Panasonic FZ70 or 25-600mm F2.8 like the FZ200 I think it would be a hot seller since that is one area smartphones can't touch.

Using the 645D to copy 6x7 negatives you would retain the 6x7 DOF characteristics which are very cool. Since there is no 6x7 digital sensor (or of there is it is so expensive i don't even want to know about it), this is a tool to keep shooting 6x7 in the digital age.

Agreed although those cams never had much Pentax in it (clearly a rebadged design, Nikon had the same one lol).
Still, a nice addition to a line up. But if it didn't sell, well...

Apparently, super zooms will come again. Branded as Ricoh, I suppose. Mr Murano or Ricoh Imaging told it so for the Indian 'Better Photography' during the CP+ last week.
It is quite funny that none of the PF, DPR, IR, etc, did any interview with Ricoh Imaging and published it, but this single Indian source has done it timely and informed us a little more. Kudos!

The only thing that bothers me with those Pentax bridge cameras is that they look so much like a tiny DSLR. It might confuse buyers into thinking that a DSLR like K-50 is only bigger, when in reality a DSLR is a pretty big step up in terms of image quality, functions, and of course lens capabilities (provided you buy the lenses). Or even the Q!
