Pentax now stocked in John Lewis (UK)

Some good news for folks in the UK. John Lewis (which is a large upmarket department store in the UK) now stock Pentax.

This is a pretty good move as the store has a great reputation for service and is the sort of place people trust to purchase high value items from.

Camera | Canon, Nikon, DSLR, Bridge, Digital Cameras | John Lewis

Camera Lenses | Digital SLR, CSC, Micro Four Thirds | John Lewis

Not seen any in store yet. Just online. Hopefully this is just a delay and not a deliberate sales strategy.

Indeed, a good news. John Lewis has a good reputation for electronic goods.

I check Costco but they only have the k-50. Couldn't see much else. Sears online however has a large selection of Pentax dslrs. They list, at typical prices: k-3; k-5; k-50; k-500; x-50; k-x and more. It was interesting that although they show a several hundred discount on k-5 making price equal to elsewhere, they are showing the k-x prices at about the same as k-50???

Walmart also list Pentax dslrs not current systems mostly k-r and k-30 systems ... But lots of k-r colors.

Pentax in Store

Just been to the Newly opened John Lewis store at Monks Cross near York. They do not have any Pentax cameras or lens in store and have no plans
to stock them there. Member of staff stated that they may be available at other stores but she didn't know which. They didn't have a gaming department
either which many people have enquired about.

John Lewis is a good department store. It's workers are also shareholders so have a vested interest in keeping standards up high. My next door neighbour used to work for them but has since left so I can't get any staff discounts Boo hoo. The York store as mentioned above has only just opened so most of the staff will have little experience of the John Lewis group.

Apart from specialist camera shops, this might be the next best if you don't like buying online. Jessops has a recent bankruptcy problem and many don't like the Curry/PC World stores. Any warranty problems should be easily sorted.

Was in the Ashford John Lewis "at home" a couple of days ago. Fair number of cameras, but only Canon/Nikon in the DSLR category.

Actually John Lewis is a better option than the specialist and 'pro' dealer Park Cameras. John Lewis offer a two year warranty on non-dslrs whereas Park only offer one year.
