Sharpness looks great.
Will really benefit from a lens distortion profile. Look how the door is "leaning".
But that is to be expected with a lens this wide.
That doesn't look like lens distortion to me. All the straight lines on the door look pretty straight. Isn't it just leaning and skewed because of the perspective?

That's the kind of effect that you buy an ultra-wide lens to get!

I'd like to see some shots of this lens pointed at a clear night sky @ f2.8 for a good 15+ seconds

I see quite a bit of blue/green CA from around 2/3rds off of center but not terrible... super sharp though!

Lenstip.com just reviewed this lens.

It came through their testing quite well - extremely sharp in the centre, OK at the frame edge, but perhaps a higher degree of barrel distortion, vignetting and flare than they would have liked. Plus you can't easily attach filters. But good bang for buck.

I'm not sure I can bring myself to have much faith in Lenstip's (or anyone else's) tests, but the sample images posted at the end are sure worth looking at. The best yet I've seen posted in any Lenstip review. Very contrasty, with superb color rendering. They remind me of what I've seen from high-end Olympus glass. These are the best images I've seen from any Samyang glass.

They were shot with a 15MP Canon 50D. I imagine they would look even better - contrasty, sharp - with a non-AA K-5IIs or 24MP non-AA K-3.

From the sample shots you can certainly see the issue with vignetting. But it's easily corrected (and no doubt there will be DxO and LR profiles for the lens soon).

Perhaps they would. The ephotozine results were shot with a Nikon D300, and were much less sharp, so much so that I suspect sample variation issues with lens. I've been looking at full rez shots taken with a Nikon D7100 on flickr. Those shots consistently display a surprisingly rapid reduction of resolution along the edges. Sample variation? or problem with Nikon's 24 MP sensor resolving edges on this lens?

The one high resolution example, shot with the Pentax K-5iis, published in the brand new PF review of the lens, shows more promise; but it's hard to make any definitive conclusion from just one example.

I think that is one of the things you can see from the Lenstip review's resolution charts for the lens. Centre - sharp as a razor; edges - not so much.

The precise degree of fall-off around the edges may vary from camera to camera, and sample to sample, but until another tech review comes out, Lenstip are probably on the money.

I just can't see shelling out $530 for a manual focus lens.

Yet others shell out a zero extra over that.
