Just received this email promo from CRK. Maybe this is of interest to people who had wanted the K-3 Silver but missed out on the earlier order.

Probably unsold stock from elsewhere. They're still in stock at b&h so they must be moving slowly outside of Japan.

A Japanese price comparison website has listed four shops selling the silver model as of today. Last month, Ricoh Imaging Japan website listed one silver model for sale which was dead stock elsewhere. Some, not many, is still available in Japan.

Given the rate Australia's initial allocation sold out, I'd say Ricoh have shipped in some unsold stock from elsewhere in the hope those who missed out initially with mop up the dregs. If they still have one within 60 days of my next overseas trip I'll be all over one like a fat kid on a milkshake (TRS 10% GST back).

It increased to 60 days from 17 April 2013

Neither do I

but the K-3 silver still looks good with normal black lenses

Without seeing it first, I assumed it would be a fashion faux pas. Settled on black. Looks like I was probably quick to judge.

You know, if Pentax is just making more than the original 2,000 of these because people want them, I'm going to be unhappy. I didn't spend a stupid amount of money on my Silver K-3 so that the color could be reintroduced six months after launch.

It's been sold out in Australia in the first 3 weeks.
This is an all new production batch. Yes, Ricoh is making more limited edition K-3 and it is possible it will continue to be available in two models.
