Tokina 11-16mm... DA* version in future?

This caught my attention:

Tokina 11-16mm

It seems plausible that a DA* version of this lens is forthcoming, which would fit right in with the current DA* zoom lineup. By Rockwell's standards, this lens is VERY good, beating out the Nikor 12-24. Interesting, eh?

OK, hopefully nobody will have to skin me but here goes anyway. It sounds like as far as quality of both lens and photos it's the winner so we can say it would be the choice for highest quality output. What I'm wondering about is the short range from 11-16. When/where would it be the lens of choice with that limited range? Would it always be a companion lens available if/when wanted or would it at times be the only walkabout lens and if so when?

If you are a wedding photographer, this would be a great lens for the receptions, you could get the whole room and do it with great quality under crappy lighting conditions. I would of loved it for my trip to the Grand Canyon, or any scenic vacation trip for that matter. I am sure I would find a use for it, I would have to because I would damn sure be owning it.

In my crystal ball I see a 11-16/2,8 lens. Unfortunately I'm not able to see the logo on it.

Give me one reason why this lens should not come in K-mount, as a DA* or AT-X. But it may take some time.

Becoz the optical formula was designed by Tokina itself??

The lens seems very good and is both faster and wider than the da 12-24. And the DA 12-24 doesnt have SDM or seals like this one would if it was given the * treatment as a wide match for the 16-50 and 50-135. Too bad it would probably be very expensive considering the DA 12-24 price it would be quite a bit more. for nikon its only 600 dollars. Everything seems to make sense, except if tokina doesnt want pentax to have it. but then tokina isnt going to release it themselves so do they have anything to loose.

would make sense to have a wide matchup for the DA* series. just like nikon and canon has pro wide lenses. (L and G)

and that's why there is no AT-X PRO version in K-mount??

Every lens Tokina has made in the last years has been in K-mount, either as AT-X or AT-X PRO, or as Pentax. I don't see why this should be an exception.

Sorry, the exception I talked about was as DA* shell.
But as AT-X Pro, it should be reasonable. But similar to Sigma and Tamron, K mount and 4/3 usually came later (probably in 2009).

Mmm as far as I remember, the DA12-24 is a Tokina optical design.
