645Z with HD video?

A rumor I saw today. Is this possible?

The rumor also said 4k video.

With a CMOS sensor video is definitely possible. 4k would be pleasant surprise if they can pull it off!

The N.A.B. show would have been the place to announce it.

So here it is on Photorumors.com, but there is no mention of source. The specifications link just goes to the cp+ report. They're generally pretty good about mentioning sources, so I'm a little stumped by this sudden claim w/o "published evidence" (realizing the weak validity of most sources).

wouldn't count on it... video is never a strong aspect for PENTAX.

but hope they can pull this 4K video off! A7s can't record on SD card, which could be a limitation for non-pro use.

I don't believe second in 4K (not that I wouldn't want it to).

Video though is quite possible, specially with a red button and a moving screen
Now the question would rather be:

* codec
* birate
* mic jack
* HDMI real time compressed/uncompressed
* 4:2:2 or better
* to SD card or HDMI only (or between those two depending on resolution etc).

IMO it will use the same chipset as K-3 which pretty much limits the options to known one.
As long as Pentax/Ricoh use the same Fujitsu chipsets (as Nikon) they will lag in the Video game.

If storage speed is a limitation, with 2 SD card slots they could pull it off using them in a RAID 0 configuration. They could even add a third slot on a camera the size and price of a 645 and do RAID 5 so that there would be fault protection. Although given the cost/energy demands of a quality RAID 5 controller it might be cheaper and easier to do 4 slots and RAID 10.

Might be possible, but I can't see that actually being done. It would be impossible to read the data any other way than through the camera (unless you have a dual card reader with a RAID controller, or use some sort of software RAID). And it would be a nightmare to keep track of which cards belong to which RAID set, in which order etc.

But cool it would be!

And it would boost failure rate. Nice idea (Raid 0)... NOT
A file on SD1 then on SD0 is a good idea for photo but for Video it is stupid except....

Let's you record Video on SD1 and proper Audio on SD2. All of this properly timecoded. Why not... but audio bitrate is probably too low for this to be worth the trouble.

I just received my 128GB SDXC card for 4K video with my pre-ordered GH4 from B&H today so it should give you a long recording time shooting 4K using the exFAT file system.

Interesting times in the medium format space. With the 645Z on the scene, there will be 4 new cameras possibly using the Sony 50MP chip or other CMOS chips, but only two promise to do 4K video:

With video:
- 645Z
- Leica S

Without video:
- PhaseOne IQ250
- Hasselblad H5D-50c

Both the Phase One and Hasselblad explicitly promise a greatly expanded sensitivity (up to ISO 6400) and 14EV dynamic range. If the Pentax 645Z uses the same chip as those others, that sounds pretty interesting too. At probably less than half the price.

Even with (supposedly) the same sensor, the capabilities varies significantly. PhaseOne and Hasselblad appears terribly outdated, and slow for their prices
But 4K video at 25+fps seems too much

The price is rumored here:
Pentax 645z medium format camera US price: $8,500 | Photo Rumors
Sounds plausible

Whhat, only 8500 usd starting price? That is much more affordable than the previous model
I have a hard time believing this price, especially since this camera is quite different from the previous one (different type of sensor, tilt LCD, different body, possibly video)
