Pentax 645-Mount FA Lenses on sale in the US

I guess that complaints about a small lens lineup have paid off. All but one of the 14 FA lenses for the Pentax 645 medium format system are going to be available in the US:

I imagine this is to tie-in with the new 'Z' 645D launch, in the US. It suggests more serious support for the 645D may be in the offing, too. The rumoured price of $8,500US is going to make this camera much more attractive, along with its improved specification.

Almost looks like there are more lenses available for 645 now than there are for K-mount ...

By the way, all FA 645 lenses are always available in Europe and Russia since 645D's launch.
It's strange that US users could not order such lenses in USA....
Very strange.

But it's good news and the prices are not bad.

Congratulations!

Does anyone know what the situation will be in Oz regarding 645 lenses? Using the Ricoh/Pentax links through the CR Kennedy webpage is pretty fruitless and only lists the 25mm and 90mm lenses. Hopefully there are plans to import the broader range of 645 lens options here too.

It just seems so odd and bizarre that they would not have realized that these were not widely available in the US.

Well whatever the reason, I'm glad this is being fixed.

Now I get why I kept reading for long that 645D had too few lenses, when the other brands have even less.

Makes me wonder why many Americans don't read other countries websites, too.

Roadmap shows future plans for lenses that will make MF camera equivalent to pro FF bodies from other manufacturers, something like 14-24 24-70 and 70-200 plus true pro body in this case CMOS 645.
So this maybe means that FF 35mm will never come ))

This is a cool development. It would also seem to have been the correction of a monumental marketing mistake.

Can we assume Ricoh also released some capital to Ricoh Imaging US to stock these lenses for distribution to retailers?

These appear to be very low volume, very high cost items for inventory that can significantly degrade such metrics as annual inventory turn, cost of carry, etc. If my compensation were in some way tied to perforamce on these metrics I might be reluctant to order Pentax USA stock them too.
