Edit: I suspect that the counters are counting down based on the client (our computers) current time, rather than a global standard, but I don't know css/javascript well enough to confirm that.

I checked the JS, and yes, it goes by your computer's time, which is silly. I think the news may still be another half hour away.

The original countdown timer on the Japanese website runs til April 15, 10:00AM going by your computer's clock, no matter what your time zone. The European timer in the OP's link runs til April 15, 3:00AM, which is time adjusted for CEST from Japan Standard Time. Again, this runs off of your computer's clock, not actual time, so it will count down how long it is til 3:00AM your time. Lazy programming IMO.

The real announcement is presumably April 15, 10:00AM JST, which is in 20 minutes.

Heh, I'm pretty sure since this is supposed to be countdown to an exact moment in time, it shouldn't be too hard to simply have a function call to get the time from the Japanese server to have a definite, coordinated value, instead of getting time from your computer.
