At just $8499, I'd say this camera is a game-changer. Check out the new Pentax 645Z!

This is going to be so much better than the 645D its not even funny. I'm sure it will go on to win numerous awards too

BTW, it's already available for pre-order if you're desperate!

Looks like expensive in the US. You can buy for $7600 in Japan in the current exchange rates.

They are just comparing the two. Sadly.

I note with interest that Ricoh are making a big deal of wired [and wireless] tethering support in the 645Z:

Feature 5?645Z | RICOH IMAGING

Maybe this will trickle down to lesser bodies at some stage

According to a recent interview, the flucard wireless features will make their way into all future DSLRs. I think that we'll see it in whatever replaces the K-50.

Ricoh have a '645Z Special Site' setup just to highlight the 645Z.

PENTAX 645Z Special site | RICOH IMAGING

Not as cute as some of the special sites they used to create - eg for the K-x - but some interesting info and extras.

This image from the special site is particularly interesting:

Philosophy and Craftmanship

Ricoh seems to be saying it is doing stuff for the long term, has a consistent vision and isn't discouraged by various ups and downs. Reading between the lines, I think it means one can be sure that a FF is on the way too.

Any word on the Wide Angle Zoom that was supposed to come out in conjunction with this camera?

The 645Z website has a teaser for 645 lenses on April 24.

The camera looks amazing. I think they are insane for not flooding the internet with amazing photos and video samples.

That is one awesome camera! Will stay a dream for me, I'm afraid.

Everybody reads different things between the lines. I'm afraid this is their way of saying: "Now, here's your camera that can shoot your old FF Pentax lenses in FF format."

WOW! I mean really WOW! The sample images on the link are superb. Sadly as of now I can't afford to build another system.
