I kind of wish Sigma had purchased Pentax. I would be interested to see what Pentax could do with the Foevon sensor and they would have access the the Sigma glass and design facilities.

Not all is lost... Look at this: EFM-∞.Leica M.Ur-
A chinese man is removing the lens from the DP merrill cameras and putting a shutter and new mount instead. I am looking for a chinese speaking person to help me contact them to ask for a nex mount. Then you can mount almost any lens ever existed. For me, DA limiteds scream for such a camera... Aperture control? No problem, U$D20 for a fotodiox PK-NEX adapter with aperture control included...

I guess try a Sigma, but I'd only try one from a store with a good return policy.
lol Yeah, I am keeping an eye on their *next* generation of DSLRs, not the current or previous ones. I own a Nikon D3100 so I could just start picking up the Sigma lenses I want in the Nikon mount but then I'd either have to actually shoot the D3100 or buy a different Nikon and I don't really want to do either of those things.

My reasoning for looking at the Sigma cameras is two fold: 1) the sensor and 2) there's nothing reverse engineered between the lenses and camera.

But the Quattro isn't really Foveon.. its much less specialized, giving away resolution for slightly better ISO. So you end up having less resolution than a true Foveon, but the ISO performance is still worse than a bayer sensor.

If the coma is very low, like their 35mm f/1.4 Art, this + 35mm camera = ultimate night landscape setup if you don't want star trails.

No, No, That would be horrible! Sigma is barely getting their bearings back, and they're not as stable. I'm not sure Ricoh ever lost them.

It's better to live with Ricoh's high prices than to get STIGMAtized.

Sigma 24mm f/1.4 Art lens coming in October | Photo Rumors

Sigma could have a real winner with this one.
Sigma should make affordable 2.8 versions of these for people who do not have the means to pay premium price.

It's called the A24 and it's an Automatic lens - haven't you heard?

SMC Pentax 24mm F2.8 Reviews - K Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

Is this the lens? I was talking about modern/future AF lenses, not those of the past.

It better have silent focusing!... wait, it does!
Now seriously, why would Pentax continue producing such a lens without a 135 format sensor... Wait, it gives 35mm equivalent FoV in APS-C format... That would be nice... Well, the existing DA21/3.2 is shy of 24/2.8 right? and even lighter and smaller.. not such a bad trade off. IŽll stop thinking out loud now

It's the DA 21/3.2. The opted for a slightly slower lens to make it pancake. Tradefoffs.

You'll see a 24mm when FF comes out

I am highly intrigued. Please post on how this works out for you. A MILC foveon would be fantastic.
