July 1964: Spotmatic. July 2014: ???

How to celebrate the 50 years since the Spotmatic was introduced?

Guts of the K-01 inside a down-sized silver plastic representation of a spotmatic, with EVF in the prism space.

Kidding, I hope Pentax does something good.

Yeah one of the important dates in Pentax history. Also next year (June 1975) is 40 years since the release of the K-Mount & K Series.

Maybe a photo contest or album, featuring pictures taken with a Spotmatic.

Phil.

Pentax has an excellent idea to celebrate 50 years of Spotmatic. In Roman numerals that it is: L.
Remember that letter. Stay tuned.

Well, those were another days. I can not compare them with today's. Films, chemicals, enlargers, the dark room deep in the night ...

Now. Now we dream for a FF. Then I dreamed for a Spotmatic.
Hm ...

It does exist and was designed around exactly the same idea (Spotmatic and 50 years anniversary) and based on the K10D but it was never marketed.

Too many "coincidental" reports about the letter L being used in some future products based around the K-mount. That may suggest a model / line of camera / cameras with slightly different form that current K-models and / or with a different sensor size.
The trouble with such reports is when one hears them from different sources, they tend to appear as descriptions of two different things. Yet in real life, it could be one and same.

I really hope it is L for Long eXposure calculation off the sensor, like the LX. Among other things of course....
