26mm F1.8 and F2 Patents for GR

Ricoh keeps on patenting new primes for GR. They should make it ilc.

Patents Ricoh 26mm F1.8 [optical technology and lens design]

Ricoh is 26mm F1.8 of the patent is pending.
embodiment1: 26mm f/2.0 (APS-C)

embodiment4: 26mm f/1.8 (APS-C)
Description and self-interpretation of the patent literature

  • Patent Publication No. 2014-81485
    • Publication date 2014.5.8
    • Filing date 2012.10.16
  • Example 1
    • Focal length f = 26.00mm
    • Fno. 2.00
    • Half angle ω = 28.81 °
  • Example 4
    • Focal length f = 26.00mm
    • Fno. 1.80
    • Half angle ω = 28.8 °
GR family

GR The current Leica format equivalent 28mm (actual focal length 18.3mm) you can get the angle of view. The use of Waikon GW-3 21mm terms , the use of the crop in terms of 35mm , 47mm conversion can be used as.
If there is a GR family, angle of view that do not overlap is good. The optical system of the patent application is 26mm so, in terms of Leica about 40 mm . Once upon a time, Leica and Minolta is, the Rights Minolta CL for 28mm 40 mm 90 mm because I was the lineup, 40mm conversion might be just good.
[0147], it is also suitable for use as "interchangeable lens camera for electronically interchangeable lens" by the unit as a photographing lens unit this.
The optical system of the pending, can also be used as an interchangeable lens for APS-C for so 14.3mm image height, but it would be for GXR GR or back focus is short. Seven pieces of six groups, lens configuration is two on one side aspherical. AF would be slow because it is a front group feeding.
performance
Example 1 Example 4 Inf Mod Spherical aberration, astigmatism, distortion, from left to right, vertical coma aberration.
Distortion is zero

Do not have a case "I do not know why, but for some reason appears to be high quality" and. One of the reasons is the distortion.
Pixel resolution, even if bad, rarely be a problem as long as reflected in the sharp viewing size. But only distortion is not changed even if reduced. If distortion of 1% if, confirmation of distortion will be difficult for example if 100 or the number of pixels in the diagonal direction, but confirmation of the image too difficult.
Example 1, F1.8 is a lens of F2.0 instead, but the distortion is almost zero. Because it is optically zero, there is no image quality degradation caused by digital correction of distortion. While the current wide-angle GR also called conversion 28mm, it was very little distortion. Straight line, so goes to a straight line, I seem to get a picture good feeling that was refreshing.

The GXR was ILC (or lessor) and I suspect that is Rico's plans for the GR series. Probably both a fixed lens and ILC variants.

Few products. Ricoh makes quality product. I prefer a brand that release 1 great product over a brand that release tons of useless ones... ;-)

Ricoh (Imaging) has filed plenty of mirrorless patents for the APS-C. The best advice? Don't hold your breath.
