Pentax Brick n Mortar sighted in the Philippines

Camerahaus located at the Magnolia Robinson Mall, Quezon City.

Stock photo of their store front

What I saw last night. This thing is up to my shoulder.

They had a K5 Limited with 40mm Limited (Silver) on display for Php34,000. (USD 795)

And they also carry K3 for Php56,400 (USD 1,300).

DISCLAIMER I am not affiliated with the store. Just an excited passerby.

So much for keeping their cameras compact... but I'd imagine a camera that size has a 40,000 MP sensor in there!

They had an entire vertical glass stand dedicated to Pentax. K-50, K-30, Q, binoculars, P&S, etc.

CameraHaus is the authorized dealer of Pentax cameras in the Philippines. They're quite supportive.

Last time i ordered a sigma lens from another store, i had to wait for 6 weeks.

Are they able to match BH Photo pricing?

Actually, for the bodies this just means they never leave the country. Pentax factories are located there.

prices of camera bodies bundled with lenses are competitive. newer lenses including the HD coated ones are acceptable. prices of smc DA, FA lenses and flash units are ridiculous.

Actually, even though the camera is built in Cebu, Philippines, most of the production are shipped for export. We do not have the privilege of getting them cheap. The US still is the best place to buy them. I got my KX in Hong Kong back in November 2009 because they were not available yet in the country. Eventually, they were able to have them in stock after 3 weeks. Same situation when I was supposed to get the K3 last November but stocks weren't available yet and I had a planned vacation in the US. Did not get the K3 because the K5ii was available for $600 and the HD DA 21 for roughly the same price during Black Friday sale. Got those two instead of a K3 body.

But pricing had much improved and are almost at par w/ US pricing at SRP prices. We just don't have those insane sale prices in the US.

SRP is at par with BH Photo, the latter gives an outright $100 discount. The store clerk did mention that the owner give Pentaxian special discount, unfortunely did not say how much.

there's a Pentax showroom in another mall just some kilometers from where the Robinson's Magnolia store is. I'll post a photo when I pass by there

and yeah Pentax support has really been gaining here lately, such as during one major photography event here in Manila, they showed off a limited-edition "Philippine flag"-colored K-50. With matching WR testing!

everyone trying to get a closer look suddenly stepped backwards during this test (except the Pentaxians nearby )
