A timely review of the 16-300 by Lenstip:
Tamron 16-300 mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD MACRO review - Introduction - Lenstip.com

It doesn't seem too bad a optic, resolution wise, for this class of lens. But note the huge CA problems they note at 200-300mm.

CA is usually easy to deal with in Lightroom. Often times it's literally a 1-click solution.

Other than that a nice review from lenstip.

The sample images generally looked rather soft, but I found they sharpened up quite nicely in Photoshop. Not a lens I'm likely to buy, but I think the results are more than acceptable for the intended purpose of the lens.

Doing some serious travelling soon I still want one. Having a 18-250 Tamron moving to the Pentax 18-270 is not enough difference, but upgrading to the 16-300 Tamron would be well worth it.

I don't have a Tamron lens. I've often wondered how good are Tamron, compared to say Sigma ?
Sigma lenses are better built and they have much nicer colour-rendering. I own or have owned two Tamron lenses:

10-24mm and 90mm macro

I had two defective copies of the 10-24, whereas the 90mm is the best macro lens I have ever used.

Well, you have there both the most likely most acclaimed Tamron in the 90mm and one of the most bashed in the 10-24.

f8 is not bad at all range from 16 till 300 mm. I would say it's lens of only ONE aperture.

I've read from the Tamron site, it's moisture resistant. I wonder how good is this lens. It would be nice to have it in Pentax mount.

I would buy one tomorrow, Have a few Tamrons and always have been more than happy with them. The moisture resistance is just the icing on the cake for me.

A little late to the show. I have been waiting for a weather resistant equivalent. This lens would be super convenient to carry in a crowded location where it is difficult to continually change lenses. Does anyone from Ricoh comment on this forum?

If 18-270 will be discontinued, could we see Pentax 16-300 (Tamron design)?

There is a A-mount version without vc, so there could be.

Probably we will see an upgraded 18-270 or an 18-300 with WR and HD coating. But if they give us a rebranded 16-300 that would be great.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Tamron has released ANYTHING new for K-mount in the last few years. Which means that some of their best and most exciting lenses are not available to Pentax users.

It was like at some specific point they made a business decision to not release any new designs in K-mount. So seeing an "upgraded" or "rebranded" anything from Tamron would definitely mark a change in their policy towards K-mount.
