I think they forgot to mention, perhaps, that they meant 5 best consumer DSLR's, but they don't mention that once in the article - just list these as 'the best'.
well... they did include the E3, 40D, and D300... those are edging on up into pro territory.

Read the source!

YOU ARE ALL WRONG

I agree that Microsoft bashing is fun and that MSN has no clue, but ...

In this particular case, MSN is just citing this source here:
PC World - Chart - Top 5 SLR Cameras

You have all been trapped by the OP

Someday the rest of the world will see there's a better, saner way...

And if you're on the fence at all about Macs, just do it. You'll wonder why you punished yourself all those years.
Well, I certainly hope they do! In fact, a nice chunk of my incorporated business depends on those Mac users.

It usually starts with a call from a biologist, landscape architect, or whatever:
"Ummm... can you tell me a little bit about GIS on Apple computers? I have these raster images that I need to do supervised classification on and then turn into shapefiles."

"Sure, practically non-existant. You can try GRASS"

"Well, is there something I can use to do analysis on these Autodesk Map 3D files I got from the city as part of this contract?"

"Yup, but it runs on a PC.

"What about this Trimble GPS I just rented for my project?"

"Pathfinder Office only runs on PC's. I don't know how you're going to design and implement your data dictionary. Maybe the generic one will be good enough?"
And, a few days later they sidle into my office with a scowl on their face and start paying for GIS services at $50 - $80/hr. Now I like that! Even if one of them is my sister in law the diehard Mac advocate and rare plant specialist who gets her GIS work and mapping done for free - while telling me she doesn't understand why I use a PC (along with why I use a Pentax instead of a Canon like her).

And so, I say all the power to those advocating a mass migration to the Mac world - particularly among university students who will soon come out as professionals in their own right needing GIS data/support.

I don't have any deep affinity to any computer platform - that ended when Amiga went belly up, and with it the one computer architecture and software that I really did have a special feeling for. My wife used a Mac in her profession (film and movie set design) for years, and it wasn't an issue that two different computers were in the house. Interestingly enough, she's pretty much had to leave the Mac to go to the PC platform. Which I didn't see as a good thing at all, because it means she feels somewhat entitled to work on my GIS box if she can claim the chair first.

Maybe I don't get it or something, but I've managed to work and play on a PC since giving up on the Amiga back in the days of NT 4.0, and I've never found it particularly difficult to keep PC's running smoothly and behave as the tools I bought them to be. I've had issues along the way, but I'd much rather be solving a driver problem or whatever than trying to find some software that I need that is available for my operating system. What others do, I really don't care if they use Windows, Linux, Apple, or whatever. Presumably they're happy where they are.

Speaking of "what if Big Computer Company took over our cameras", is it true that while we might get the BSOD under Microsoft, all our camera stuff would cost twice as much if Mac took over instead?

As for MSN... how can you take that seriously anyways? That's just pablum for the masses.

Really, what does Microsoft know about hardware? They can't make a game console that lasts longer than 5 months, a mouse that lasts a year or a router that doesn't get discontinued almost at release.
