I read somewhere yesterday from Adobe saying LR will continue to be offered as standalone product for the time-being. You just won't get the Cloud related features.
That could be the means to squeeze people out of the perpetual licensing.. continue to ramp up development on the CC side to the point where you feel like you are lacking something major on the standalone. I mean they stated they'd keep the standalone around, they never stated it would be 1:1 in features with the cloud version. That said, I still don't think there is much left in the tank at Adobe in terms of innovation.. There is only so much you can do with photographic processing.

Pretty sure that's supported:
SIGMA 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC MACRO OS HSM C013 | Pentax, Sony | 5.2/8.2
It has a profile, but is not auto-detected on import.

Baffling that this still includes both the version you need eg x64 and the one you don't eg i386.
Assuming that you only have one computer or that both your main and portable both have the 64-bit OS. This approach is not unusual. Corel does the same thing with Paint Shop Pro.

Then they are both unusual, Steve!

It is normal (and more efficient for both vendor and end user) in the software world to provide different executables for 32, 64, Mac and Linux versions.

I just noticed the new tool beside the adjustment brush. Has this been around since version 5 was released? I probably just wasnt paying attention but curious if it's anything new in this version.

I went from XP to win 8 only because I was forced to and I want my kodachrome back as well!!

Ouch. Should have stopped at windows 7. Perhaps by the time windows 10 comes out, it'll be worth trying.

For those of us yet to download 5.5, what tool do you mean?

The Radial Filter? It's been there since v5.0.

Just used it yesterday for the first time. Never could figure out a use for it. But it worked a treat on the project yesterday to blur the background while keeping the focus area sharp.

Windows 8 is much more useable with the patching and the Classic Shell 3rd party to boot to desktop (and get your start menu back properly).

I found that all of my tools in Lightroom remained installed with the new upgrade and the upgrade to CC 2014 worked well except for Nik and Topaz. I reinstalled Nik and Topaz with no problems at first, and then I discovered that with CC 2014 I cannot load my raw files into Photoshop from within Lightroom.

I went on a forum and it looked like the problem was with NIK, so I deleted NIK and the problem persisted.,

I eventually had to go into time machine on my mac and reinstall my earlier version of Adobe CC. Don't know if the problem with raw files is a Lightroom problem or a CC 2014 problem. Evidence so far however points to CC 2014.

I'm still on 4.4, the radial filter seems cool (I saw the inclusion in tons of Android and Iphone apps and wondered when Adobe would do the same). But for me, what I really need is for the adjustment brush to include the Tone Curve Menu, or specifically the HSR part, for some advanced color adjustment techniques.

That is interesting. I forced LR4 to use the DA 55-300 Non-WR profile automatically instead. I'm pretty sure it is the same lens design.
