Baffling that this still includes both the version you need eg x64 and the one you don't eg i386.

I now expect the first open beta within a month from now but probably close to it.. judging from past releases... from 2->3 it was within a month as well as from 3->4

timeline doesn't show 4->5 though

Grrr... still no support for the DA20-40 limited. Guess I'll have to make time to create the lens profile myself. But when...

I wouldn't say that. It's always best to have the latest version for the sake of stability/security/... There's bound to be performance improvements and bug fixes as well. It is a large download indeed, but that shouldn't be a problem in this day and age? It's always a shame that an upgrade doesn't bring *all* anticipated improvements, but that doesn't mean status quo is a valid alternative. IMHO anyway...

If I download the current 920MB LR installer, with packet overhead, there goes about 12.5% of my monthly data usage quota (which includes uploads/downloads) in one hit. Welcome to wireless broadband in rural areas.

900MB is also simply stupid and inefficient. For Windows users Adobe could cut the download size in half simply by making the 32 bit and 64bit installers separate downloads. Instead they literally bundle two huge 450 MB installers alongside each other in the download, one of which people will never need to use.

LOL. I should have specified that I referred to minor upgrades (such as 5.4->5.5) rather than major upgrades (such as the upcoming(?) 5.x->6).
