K-3 firmware update coming next month

Apparently we'll see another K-3 firmware update in July. Somehow I believe it will actually fix the mirror flop issue this time - we'll see. It's also reported to include a diffraction compensation feature borrowed from the 645Z (which I wasn't familiar with yet):

Oh, now that is very, very interesting -- the diffraction compensation part, I mean. I'm assuming, on zero evidence, that it's something like Sony claims to have implemented with their latest Bionz processor (who thinks up these names?). I only assume there's some practical substance to their claim out of wishful thinking.

Do we have any 'alpha' users here who could comment on this from experience?

I'm hoping for a mirror flap fix! I recently had my first and only incident after four months of K-3 shooting.

Some say the initial problem goes away... Don't ask me, I'm agnostic on this one.

I've had it happen 4 or 5 times now since Jan 2014, twice within the last 4 weeks during heavy 1,500-shots-a-match shooting. So I don't think it goes away.

My shutter count today is 23,183. So that's a fluttering occurrence approx. every 5,000-6,000 shots.

I really hope it goes away by ~mid-July, sometime after this is supposed to be released!

I had to search Google for "mirror flop" and found out that on the net Pentax own that term. At least with "Pentax SDM" we now get to link 4 before all hell break loose with "problems", "repair" and "failures" figuring prominently in the summaries. Maybe it is time to apply for that job as SEO* consultant with Ricoh? The position is obviously vacant...

Personally, I am happy that despite taking my cameras on rather torturous bike trips around the worlds' more bumpier roads the mirror haven't "flopped" once. Yet.
