My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We're coming in from the north, below their radar.

When will you be back?

I can't tell you that. It's classified.

It's Lieutenant Hurwitz. Severe shell-shock. Thinks he's Ethel Merman.

Maybe any informations, but we will see no body.

The next lens should be not a 2,8 70-200.

It is the telezomm till 4xxmm.

What we see this year is the new Q and maybe lenses for aps-c and ff.

The converter production got a power up now, because there are still much more orders than production numbers

Cheers."
Hmmm, so we can scrub 'new Q' or 645 zoom lens off the list of possible Photokina announcements.

Running out of options for new announcements....

there's still the 1xx-4xx telezoom tho if that's all they have for Photokina this year that would be a bit lackluster.

I was simply making a point that no matter what Ricoh releases people here will complain about it.
You mean, like they're doing right now? But I'm sure that having the only medium format stabilized wide angle zoom or making money out of the Q are really justified criticism!
Wait, that was so yesterlast hour. Now we're complaining about Photokina!

It is not a criticism. Pentax has a good entree and some fancy expensive champagne for those who can afford it, but the main meal is rather too low on calories.
Nothing has changed in the menu in the last several years, that's all.

Pentax should stop making cameras like the K-3 and lenses like the Limiteds, I suppose...

Perhaps we will see the telephoto zoom, the wide angle zoom and that wide angle to telezoom at photokina. Perhaps a lens for the Q system too and i would be surprised if they show the 80-160 for the 645.....

The menu is weak on the main courses. There are basically only two current cameras for the K-mount available at the time.

One is rather great K-3, but that is full metal DSLR, weighs over 800g. Even with a smaller lens and a battery it's a1kg weight hanging around your neck to do a basic shot! (And the entire Q7 system weighs 1kg!)
Or the K-50 with same metering and flash bugs from long ago. So the main course is rather a new dish that is too demanding on the stomach, or the warmed up soup from 4 years ago.

There is no even some good bread and tapas, like, Pentax made fixed lens large sensor camera. One could be happy with it for a while.
To the restaurant management: do something about the main course. Get a new chef with new skills, buy more pots, change grocer, buy a new recipe book and learn a few good new dishes, apply new seasoning, add better ingredients in the new soup ... I don't know. Just do something.

I think the current menu is good but not extensive enough.

Ricoh has stated they plan to extend the menu. Of course this was many months ago so who knows if we should continue to take them on faith.

I for one am willing to wait until postKina.

Pentax just released 2 very good new products already (K3 end of last year, 645Z now). They have no need to release anything more this year. Maybe a few lenses or HD bump... Nothing more is needed for now.

Well they do need a nice small dslr. I holded the Canon EOS Rebel SL1 (100D) and that is one nice little camera. I think that can even be smaller with some new technics inside. I looked at the Q7 and compared to the Panasonic GM1 that is even huge and has the smaller sensor. So shrinking a camera can stil be done and Pentax needs a new baby DSLR.
