I get the feeling that Pentax has gotten even more anal under Ricoh.

Product not ready = no release
Not caring what the market or user base thinks.

When its out, its a winner in its category.
Eg. Q7; GR; K3; 645Z

So hopefully, this Photokina we hit the 'Winner' part and not the 'Anal' part of their project cycle
I agree but only partially. When it comes to bodies - everything is great, but when we consider lenses... well, situation is not so good (cordially speaking).

My hope is that they won't launch too much, too often - so I won't get bankrupt

SO are you (cordially) saying that whatever optical engineers Hoya didn't take with the medical divisions are now working for Tamron and Sigma?

What's the problem with that? Take the Tamron 150-600, slap HD coating on it, sell it as the D FA 150-600 at a $200 premium.

It seems, in the memory at least, that it's an 80% premium though...

Not at all. The Tamron 18-270 was $650 at intro in 2008. The Pentax version was $799 at intro in 2012. The Tamron has dropped in price while the Pentax has not.

I'm just saying that when it comes to bodies - Pentax is in my opinion one of the best on the market but lacks in reponsive, fast and silent glass. I'm crossing my fingers for updating the FA Limited line with DC, WR and 1.4 aperture(1.2 will be killer in price probably).

The three amigos with an f/1.4 aperture would be more than a simple 'update' and, mark my words, will never happen. Ever.

ANY change to the Princesses - even so modest a change as a new coating (more than a formula tweak) - will render them something other than the Princesses.
