Somehow the install BIN-file doesn't work. Maybe my unpacking isn't good. Does someone have the BIN-file for me to download from a link?
use the zip file not the exe file. Unzip and install, worked perfectly for me.

Unable to install on my K-3. Using Mac system, tried several formatted cards, update not recognized by the camera. Get the same screen holding 'menu' button down on startup as I normally do.

Can you try Windows file, just to confirm that issue isn't related to the Mac?

Windows file does not work either. The first download I used was labeled "windows/mac". Camera does not recognize any. I have been unsuccessful in downloading any updates on the K-3. Had no trouble with the K200D.

Him, very strange. Every single update so far I installed so smooth and fast. Do you download files every time on same computer?

Yes, same MacBook Pro which works flawlessly for every other task I do, except this one. It has a card reader, I may try to connect directly to the camera instead.

Just updated my K3 with a Mac and no problems. One thing to remember though....the file name MUST be fwdc220b.bin. It will NOT, I repeat NOT WORK if it's called fwdc220b-x x.bin where x is a number e.g. fwdc220b-2 2.bin. The Mac sometimes auto renames the file in the download folder if the same file name exists from a previous firmware download. What I do is copy the latest file to a blank formatted SD card and rename it to fwdc220b.bin This works fine for me! Hope this helps?

Or try on some other machine, if you can. Maybe your Mac accidentally doing some modification on .bin file, so the camera have a problem to recognize that file. If you want, I can send you .bin file from my PC, or you can ask some of your friends to download .bin file and than you try update again. Also, try put .bin file on other SD card. If problem persist with that scenario, then is something wrong with your K-3.

This problem happens to a few users every tinme. If the old Update file remains in the Folder from the prior FW Update, using Windows we must choose whether to to overwrite or inrement-rename the file. Mac just automatically increments the file name and a few people get a fail to recognize message.

You should Unzip the file in a clean folder somewhere or rename the .bin file (I think that's harder) to get this to work correctly.

Ron, Are you using the mac or Win version? I have a PC but always download the Mac version as it is just a straight .zip file with the BIN inside. I have it and could put it in my dropbox account for you but I'm at work now, can do it tonight if no one else helps before then.

Hey, Ron, do you need Windows or Mac version? I have Win, few hours ago I updated my K-3 without any problems. Let me know which version, and I'll send you BIN file via e-mail or GoogleDrive.

Interesting to know that. Even if there is only one SD card in the camera, must be in card slot 1?

RTFM, old but gold
Luckily I always do update with SD card in slot 1.
