I don't want to go any deeper in the means (or pricing) of this camera, but I just have to say that it looks absolutely gorgeous, especially when paired with the 20-40.

They really should offer a 20-40 bundle!

Looks nice, but also looks desperate. And their marketing still sucks.

The name is awful. Very cheesy. In the UK, Prestige = kitchen appliances.

Saw the tweets on my mobile and followed the links. The Ricoh Imaging website says nothing whatsoever about the model, just a copy and paste of the regular K3 page, with different pictures. The UK tweet links to the website that doesn't even mention it.

I hope you're wrong, but.....

According to Ricoh, only 2,000 of the silver special edition were made, but you can still buy one nine months later. Is this a general reflection of sales, or did not so many people find the silver version attractive (I think it looks much better in the flesh)? Perhaps I'm worrying unnecessarily: maybe the Prestige version (I have no problems with the nomenclature, despite coming from the UK) presages an updated model. We will see.

If they can clear stock at a premium price and get some PR, why not do it then?

Does anyone else think pairing this model with a lens shot in a way that shows half the colours of the rainbow wasn't a great idea?

Imagine how classy this would look with an FA Limited lens on it.

I think it looks cool but the name is ridiculous.
Prestige??

This may be the first time in human history someone tried to market the color grey as being more prestigious than silver.

No joke, there was a kid at my high school that drove around a dumpy truck that he had left primered and tried to pass it off as having a special "matte grey" finish.

Not Grey - Platinum!!! ;-) Platinum is higher value than Silver or Gold....

Clem Kennedy got back to me within 30mins - will be on the Pentax.com.au site within 2 or 3 days.. Yaaaay

Hope to have one in my hands by my 2000th post and bugger waiting for the ephemeral FF to materialise -

Maybe it's some kind of language barrier but to me "prestige" sounds like something classy and exclusive, both which this edition is.

But if it's used by Pentax, it loses its meaning - it becomes something mundane, even vulgar.

Looks good, but.. the silver edition is still in stock, no? I wish Pentax would put their resources to other uses, but okay.

I'll do it, if it comes with an FF sensor.
