Wow! Interesting stuff. Really makes one wonder what features this brings.
And it would be great if Pentax would make an attachable EVF, for the Q and K-01 and even the DSLRs.
I doubt it will be WR, which would otherwise be a great feature.

Edit: And look at the other photos on the source website. The other colour looks pretty good

I have to say, I had a detachable EVF on my Olympus E-PM2 and didn't like it. Too fiddly and easily lost. I much prefer a built-in EVF. But I suspect it's a moot argument. Somehow, I just don't expect an EVF either way.

How about a 2/3" ccd sensor with Global electronic shutter, slightly bigger than the Q7 but still might support in body SR and existing lenses

I really think 1/1.7" is where the Q sensor stays. The body could support it, sure, but the battery is stressed enough as it is and they already have 8 lenses designed for small sensors. This is the Q's niche, and it is currently alone in that niche.

1/1.7" sensor is the fastest evolving sensor. It is the workhorse of the entire imaging industry, and with 1/2.3" sensor is by far the most popular sensor family. Do not underestimate it; the magic is in the optics, and I hope that with newly redesigned Q2 Pentax will also update some of their Q lenses. 02 comes to mind first. Or, introduce a better 02A or something like that, with a constant f2.8.

But what is that new "wheel/button" on the handgrip? A cigarette lighter? Transporter beam push button?

Well we know for sure it isn't a MLU lever.

I think this is likely to be released in Japan first with a yen price. Please bear in mind that the street price will be lower than the list price almost immediately, many stores will give 10% store points with the purchase and the camera will continue to be discounted over its shelf life. For example, the GR was $800 in the USA but 100,000 yen ($1000) in Japan at launch. The street price has effectively been very close to the USA throughout its life. The K-3 is similar. This is the way the retail business works here. So the Japanese price is going to seem high. Just trying to head off some complaints.

I'm very interested to see the specs.
- improved autofocus? PDAF?
- a better screen?
- built-in WiFi or Flu card compatibility?
- diffraction correction?
- a new sensor?
- any new lenses? (Although the publicity shots only show existing ones)

Which of the K-3 technologies is transferable? That seems to be how Ricoh reduces R&D and production unit costs by spreading both over larger volumes than just the flagship dSLR.

How about adding phase detect AF to the sensor like Fuji for faster AF on the Q

The AA simulation? Thats probably pointless on the Q. Maybe 4k interval video and the odd "HDR raw", neither really a gamechanger

If they added a battery grip and more processing power, I would be happy.
Also maybe a mic input?
Better video?
Weather sealing (and lens)?

Faster AF would be fine...but my wish list includes red or yellow focus peaking, higher res screen, and snappier responsiveness.

My crystal ball says Flu card compatibility, maybe that diffraction correction, and (please!) the tele macro shown earlier.

But that strange growth on the front has me puzzled! Such weird placement.

I suspect this will be plastic, based on the silver lugs in the pictures.
Yes, I came to the same conclusion after looking at the product shots.

Well we know it isn't the slow shutter speed dial like on a K. That would be taking derivative legacy design just a bit too far.
