The sky is not falling!

Since there were some discussions regarding Ricoh Imaging's performance and how the 645Z is doing:
"The profit of the DSLR business improved year on year. The new full scale SLR 645Z has received strong support from the market and the initial production was not enough to meet the demand. And now the production catches up, we expect to receive a sizable contribution for the second quarter and beyond." - from the horse's mouth (i.e. Ricoh).

Ricoh is investing 4,300 million yen this FY in order to "increase production of digital cameras ,etc."

Taking into account that Ricoh is once again establishing the supplies to third party sellers increasing the factory capacity is nothing suprising. Still - good news!

You don't believe me?
The source is Mr. Daisuke Segawa, Corporate Senior Vice President of Ricoh Co. The quote is not from a document, but what he said at the presentation (English translation from Japanese in the link below)
Ricoh Co., Ltd. Consolidated Results for the 3 months ended June 30, 2014
That's about all he said about Ricoh Imaging.

The investment thing was published in a recent Securities Report.

Its interesting to see how much sales are in japan, I wonder if because of the Q series. Would explain the amount of development for the Q2 and the new lenses.

No, not at all. Apologizes if you got that impression. I just wanted to read the financial report and thought you had the link.

I wonder if that will see Ricoh re-open the Pentax 'factory in the park' in Japan?

Please do not take it seriously, I was joking; unfortunately using emoticons is not always enough, written communication has this drawback. I know you didn't meant mistrust.

The financial reports don't have numbers about Ricoh Imaging, but for the entire "Other" segment - which also includes financial and logistics. They're published under:
Investor Relations | Ricoh Global
The audio presentations usually have some extra info (not numbers, more like what I quoted in the first post).

I like the new "full scale SLR concept"...
There is a subliminal strategic orientation in this concept...
And for the time being, the park bas been relocated in China - where it warrants higher profits

Thanks for posting that. Gives you an impression of the scale of the company at least at that time. But very sad to see that still empty. Strange that it is still just sitting there. I wonder if this property now belongs to Ricoh or if it was sold off at some point?

Isn't it sold off long ago?

Indeed. The image I posted was from about 1975. In looking at the 2014 Google maps image of the factory, it's remarkable how very little seems to have changed. Someone has been looking after the place.

That is 42 million US $. That is substantial, about 1/3th of the price Ricoh payd to purchase Pentax.

It was closed, but not sold off, I think.
