I see your point. Well, maybe there will be a non-S Q with something more than lipstick.

Looking at the specs of the Q-S1, I am kinda disappointed. The improvements (if any) are really subtle for this release. Perhaps the Q7 is the one to buy when the price drops to be like the Q10 now.

Perhaps the imageing processing software is so much better that it warrant a new model?

I'm really intrested in this bokeh - making software. I wonder how it looks. Is it some kind of lytro processing engine?

Can't you do that in Photoshop?

No software needed

I'm almost pretty sure they are just marketing the BC mode better, which has existed since the original Q. (And how many people actually know or talk about it?) The new Q really aligns with Ricoh's recent push for better brand marketing in that they are much better at sugar coating their words and products than before. Unless there's a depth sensor on the Q, pure software based solution isn't going to differ from the original implementation that much.

I think someone here on PF once suggested that the Q could, in theory, take multiple images for focus bracketing, similar to exposure bracketing, and then use the information to exaggerate the blur. Kind of "focus de-stacking", the opposite of focus stacking. Not sure how well that would work, but it would probably work better than the current Blur Control algorithm which is something of a mystery, and probably better than a post-process method.

Not saying that this is implemented in the Q-S1. I'm just repeating someone else's idea.

It might do something similar to Photoshop's new blur control feature?

I thought BC mode is already doing focus stacking. But it's been a while since I used it so I may be wrong.

Hang onto your Q classics, they will be much sought after collectors items.
What would a Pentax launch thread be without its share of prophecies? The market is flooded with Q classics. New bodies went for less than 100 EUR. Used, including lens, can be had for 120-150 EUR. So, no.
