I think this looks quite promising for those who think that Pentax DSLRs have got too big. I want the smallest, lightest possible body to use my limiteds, so I'm quite excited by this. I don't much like the look of the lights though.

What do you think it weighs?

The K-S1 is actually a FF model, we're seeing it in "Crop Mode".
I think we are seeing it more in "Crap Mode". This is one tasteless looking camera

LOL. It has been my "thing" to bash cameras that I don't get/understand from Pentax.
Then when the prices come down, I invariably go ahead and buy one.
Sometimes it's fun to try something different.
Since this camera takes Pentax glass, who knows?

I ended up with a K-01, K-30, a few Q, and an MX-1.
It says Pentax, takes K mount glass, is ugly, what's not to "like"?
If it comes in under $300 - awesome.

It probably will since it looks so cheap and cheesy.

If it has SR and pentaprism it going to weight at least 600g. Probably close to what K500 weight.

I like that Ricoh is trying to make a new bold futuristic design, and not jumping on the retro band wagon as everyone else.

But they might need a few more attempts before they find a successful design.
A clean design where form and function are united.

What a rubbish design.
Led lights in a row? What the hell were they thinking.

It might have worked on a prosumer type camera, but this thing is such a Frakencamera, looking cobbled together from a DSLR and the new 'hi tech stylish' portion of the body.

Ricoh/Pentax really needs to wake up.
There are plenty of nice looking MILC designs out there and this one isn't it.

Based on Q-S1 it will be plastic fantastic cheap entry level model, so it could be very light.

I think I owe everyone an apology. This is probably not a mirrorless camera at all. There's no mention of mirrorless in the original story and there is a button on the back with "LV", which would not make sense if it were mirror less. Sorry!

I'm not a member of the "Pentax-must-make-cameras-only-for-me" brigade. I'm all for waiting to see the real thing, and seeing how the market judges it. Pentax is still very much a Japan-centric company, and gizmos and gimmicks seem to go down well there. They may not even release it in the USA. It's different, anyway .

If you look closely at the front elevation, what might appear to be a mirror in the locked up position seems to me to be the screen-changing tag, which is an interesting feature in what otherwise appears to be an entry-level camera.

The only aspect of the styling that I can't really come to grips with is the retention of the prism/flash housing, at least at that size. Maybe it's a cost-saving measure, but it does make me wonder about the authenticity of the imagery, as it doesn't seem to be totally in keeping with the rest of the styling.

If it's true, I'd expect this to be officially announced in a few days, like the Q-S1, but I hope this isn't the only thing to be released for Photokina. However, the design does appear to address a number of the more strident criticisms of the K-01, so maybe that's a good thing.
