Pentax K-S1!

Well, it is certainly something different......

What is with the red / green LED around the shutter button?

Who knows, it may be what Pentax needs. More people would buy entry level cameras with gimmicks than they would a more serious, higher priced camera, and if it could get people into K mount that would be good for both Pentax/Ricoh and for us due to aftermarket lens manufacturer interest. If people get good images from these the. It may bring more brand recognition for Pentax too. If this is real it could be a win win situation for us as consumers and for Ricoh.

Image on the front, top, and back of the PENTAX K-S1

From readers, we have to provide an image of the new SLR Ricoh imaging of "PENTAX K-S1".

PENTAX K-S1 is coming soon.

Specs of K-S1 is unknown, but in as far as the image, it looks like a small entry-level model of the body very. The operation system, the mode dial is moving to the back, it seems to have become quite different from the entry model of the Pentax so far.
It is interesting (LED is? Are embedded) is of the shutter dial and around the grip shines, but is the place to be worried about whether this is a decorative mere, some function or have been assigned.

i think an EVF is a good call. lack of a EVF is a deal breaker for some for sure

I was hoping for mirrorless, but something more retro... I am interested to see where the truth ends up! The LEDs are kinda gross. :-/

The K-S1 is actually a FF model, we're seeing it in "Crop Mode".

Sears had a KS-1 back in the day (135 SLR) that seemed to be a rebranded Ricoh.

Most probably and entry level SLR... I don't think this is mirrorless since I can see a mirror there, and the hump is way too big for an EVF. I'm more interested in the size... it look pretty pretty small.

I suppose if I were the kind of person who thought ground effects/colored lights in his transparent PC were important I might be in love with the design. I've never been one to care if a camera were ugly as long as the ergonomics are adequate. Put one in my hands, Ricoh - I'll give it a spin and let you know how it goes!

The LED grip...could it be for some kind of gesture control? Doesn't really look mirrorless. To be honest, the design looks a little cobbled up out of an entry level Pentax's mirror box and...some concept camera? Maybe it's Photoshop? I know many considered K-01 ugly but it was design ugly. This is a Frankencamera

C'mon...even the staunchest PRIC fanboys have to be scratching their heads with this one. LED decorative lights? If they serve no other purpose then this is going to cement Pentax's joke status.
I take it back, the fanboys will find a way to rationalize it.
