Collapsible hood on the kit?

They are clearly going for smartphone users with the design and the selfie feature. If it does upload to fb that would help too!

Looks awkward with the big kitlens but so does every small body. If they price it right it cant be a bad thing!

And what's up with the old da-l kitlens. It, the mirror housing and the grip are so different in design. ugly!

Well I think it's brilliant. A tiny (smallest ever??), reasonably full-featured entry-level DSLR? Who cares about aesthetics? Why get fussed about a few kitsch LED's?

Sell it by the bucketload at a Rebel-killing price and hook a new generation into K-mount = WIN.

k-s1 vs k500 size comparison

The difference in size on the grip is not as much as it looks by these pictures.
K-500 has a big part around the shutter button that is deeper and wider than the actual grip, and the K-500 body is deeper so the front grip is not much deeper than on K-S1.
The biggest difference is probably the position of the shutter button.

The K-S1 might have more comfortable grip than K-500, and it might be easier to reach buttons on the back with you thumb.

It's also easier to hold facing you when taking a selfie.

Having slept on it and come back to it today, I think I like it more. I don't want to be one of those "resistant to change" types of people. The design is pretty shocking, but apparently so was the K-01, and I shoot every day with the K-30, which is also a bit edgy. I honestly kind of like the idea of the rear "control panel" rather than the mode dial up top, even though it is very non-traditional. The LEDs still mystify me, but a focus indicator/countdown for timed images (or "selfies") isn't unreasonable. If it is a "social media" beast, maybe it'll have some sort of convenient built-in WiFi for instant uploading, and that opens up a lot of possibilities for sharing photos, and that's never a bad thing for a camera company. I'm interested to see the truth come out in some sort of final form!

I can't believe some people are saying this looks better than a K-01. I think it looks pretty awful, and I agree with those that have stated that the aesthetics of the kit zoom really clash with it. But I'd want to see specs, and I'd want to see it with a few other lenses. I really hope it's not just a (slightly smaller) repackaged K-500 (as the Q-S1 is a repackaged Q-7)...
