Hello,
I agree with most of what i read on page 19.
I hope that this new design is not only a "hypster-attract" look, but also that it does integrate à new user interface AND a new connectivity potential. If not, too bad for sales...

I think it will have such high ISO capabilities that the LEDs are to allow you to find and use it in the dark.

But why they are so concerned about the look of the entry level camera and its LED lights is beyond me. Pentax knows that upper end camera buyers are conservative. They have never offered a K5 or K3 in colors (other than special editions). They aren't going to start tweaking appearance or adding funny things to it now.
A lot of people on this forum believe that Pentax should be Nikon.

This thread proves that many Pentaxians are just like many Canonites and many Nikonians.

What do you consider the difference between a 'Canonite' or a 'Nikonian' versus a 'Pentaxian' ??

I've never understood this mentality. Many power tools are brightly colored - red, yellow, turquoise, etc. Why not cameras?

Exactly, there is no difference... as my statement implied.

However, I've seen plenty of posts over the years about how some Pentax users consider themselves to be different than those who shoot Canikon, simply by virtue of choosing a different camera line.

A lot of people here seem to think that making a non-scary DSLR is something Pentax should feel ashamed of. Apparently the average guy doesn't deserve to have a camera anymore. He shouldn't aspire to take better family snaps. He should just stick to his smartphone and be happy. Meanwhile, in another thread we discuss plunging sales in the camera market and wonder why.

Anyway, unlike the K-01, this camera has TAv mode, so it isn't as dumbed down as some are trying to make out. If it's light enough, it could be a great second body for a K-3 owner who wants to travel light sometimes.
The K-01 does have TAv mode when in M-mode and the iso set to auto.

Or Fuji, for some

The K-3 now comes in gunmetal, not just silver. But I doubt bright, pastel colors will ever reach the enthusiast-level model.

Ah. I didn't read the implication in your statement. However, I agree nonetheless. My response, had you stated otherwise, would have been 'the difference is in lens mount and logo on the front' haha.

If anyone thinks they are superior to someone shooting with a different brand system simply because of that system they are fooling themselves.

I had read somewhere (although I can't remember where) that Pentax had said that all future DSLRs would have prisms. I think on the argument that if the distinguishing feature of your camera is an OVF then it should be the best type of an OVF.
Is this a dslr? Likely, but not guaranteed IMO.

Yes. I know you can do that, but you have to admit that having it as a dedicated position on the mode dial is going to make it easier. And I don't think Sv is possible on the K-01 at all, is it?

Anyway, I'm not trying to bash the K-01. I love mine!

It's for the same reason you don't see light stands in pink. You don't want them reflecting some light onto your subject. If you were to take a picture of something that's highly reflective, a yellow camera might show up in the photo where a black one would not.

Yes, I understand this (although it's never happened to me in over 20k snaps with my yellow K-01), but I never said that cameras shouldn't be available in black. Many people think "colorful camera" = "non-serious" or "non-pro", and I find that "non-sensical".

If you take a picture of something that's highly reflective it doesn't matter the colour of your camera but your position.
