But then I saw the white version, much better photographs and I think that with a white kit lens, or any other DA Limited lens for that matter, this will be an absolutely gorgeous camera.
I presume it will be made for average users willing to taste best of both worlds, even more simplified in operation than a DSLR, with lots of visual and engaging feedback.

I have now totally changed my mind upon seeing more information and photographs — this will be an excellent addition to the Pentax lineup.
The white version is quite snazzy. Real or not?

Only an American could make that remark - Irony, anywhere else in the world, is a huge part of a dry sense of humour (humor).

I do have to admit... The white version looks much better than the black one. I'm still not nuts about the mode dial on the back, the blingy LEDs or the tacky blue light on the OK button. But with the specs, I could see myself shooting with one.

America, Ironically does not find it funny that your dry sense of Humidor (or whatever) Is not funny.

America however is somewhat open to new Ideas, So we'll keep trying to appreciate the rest of the world to start making jokes while were busy with other things.

Things have not been all that funny lately.

Perhaps he was being sarcastic. Sarcasm, in America, is a huge part of a sense of humor (humour).

A reminiscence of the Ace-mount / Pentaflex project?
I had to google that and ended up at DPR... cheers.

YES! That is exactly what I was thinking about a future product, but...

This mount & VF assembly could easily be removed leaving a familiar component that could still be perceived as a Pentax product - It looks a lot like a new Quattro with a VF and mirror box slipped on over the body/grip - offering an opportunity for Pentax/Ricoh to transition to a mirrorless format in the future (or now in a parallel line) simply by removing those "legacy" components..

I would not be surprised if the FF is indeed a modular hybrid camera like the LX and can go either Mirrorless or SLR depending on the module.

It stands to reason that Ricoh will combine all of its own (GR etc) and Pentax' experience in a single product outcome at some stage.

Do we know what functional purpose the LEDs may serve? Or are they merely for looks?
Probably acts as a Wi-Fi signal strength indicator and a self timer aid.

white one for some reason looks good to me. Neat and somewhat elegant. Reminds me of 2001: A Space Odyssey's HAL but with green lights instead.

And is it poor vision or does the grip seem a little shallow? Also, no front dial.. Minus points for control.

As someone who was shopping for a dashcam recently, my first thought was "Those are infrared lights..."

I'm almost certainly wrong, but it definitely opens up possibilities.

I'm going to sit my K-01 down at the dining table, and . . .
"I'm sorry, K-01. There's no easy way to say this, but . . ."

Is it just me or does the body look modular?

I noticed that myself.

It almost looks like the body section can slide out, away from the pentaprism section.

GXR concept?

EDIT: ooops, just noticed there is already a thread on this very topic just a few threads down from this one.
