I laughed out loud at that. Has someone at Ricoh been reading PF comments?

On second thought, probably not, because he did not explain the "gap".

It will be released on Friday, September 19th.
Nice Mistral. Thanks for the info. Now...will this be the big Photokina spotlight product? My guess is it will be.

I don't believe I've seen weight mentioned yet.
I'm guessing about the same as a K-01, around 500g. On the one hand, it has the mirror and pentaprism and a little more body plastic up top, but on the other, the battery is lighter and the body has been trimmed back a bit.

(K-01: 480g w/o battery, 560g w/ battery & SD card)

Well, that's pretty cool - they migrated the AA-simulation code down from the K-3.

Is this an upgrade from the K-50?

On the other hand, this is exactly the same as the K-50, right?

You can bet that was filmed with the K-3. So much shake and warp in the video footage only the brilliant "Movie SR" could produce that. Are the engineers at Pentax blind or just stupid/lazy?
WINNER!! First negative comment unrelated to the subject at hand!!

I wonder why they keep sticking the K-30 AF module when the SAFOX X from the K-5 II/s is already available (and surely NOT superior to the new SAFOX XI)

It looks like I will be giving my K-01 away to a good home. Moon silver K-S1 here I come.

With what is going into this camera I imagine that if a camera is announced at Photokina it's going to be a biggie. Depending on the price point of this I may be interested in one.

I'm feeling this way too if the price is right, then I can sell the K-01 at a bargain price to someone who wants one.

Yeah, I'd like to see more creativity than just the body design, but I suppose the APS-C DSLR market isn't demanding it right now; and the LEDs may lead to more sales from selfie-first-time-buyers than us enthusiasts would like to admit.

for me is clear that this camera is designed for young users and women. A simple lay-out on the screen, small format, small grip, almost everything can be done with one hand.
Do you say that cameras for old men have a complex layout on the screen, big format, big grip and everything has to be done with two hands? :-D

So it's basically a k-01 with a viewfinder?
The K-S1 has a mirror, whereas the K-01 doesn't.
