I think I want one... but of course my wife will tell me that I don't need it just like I tell her she doesn't need that new pair of shoes.

It should be 399 euro with single kitlens.

This is the competition under 500 euro. All with a single kitlens wich will probably be 80+% of the sale in this segment.

Like many, my initial reaction was negative. Now that I see more and more of it the design has grown on me. I really like the rotary mode selection dial. Lesson learned!'

However, I know this camera isn't for me. For serious shooting I like to have to have two selection traditional value selection dials like on my K-30.

This camera could be a replacement for the K-500? An intro/beginner level DSLR?

Pentax has to be aware that the D3200 kit is under $500 as well as the SL1 body only. It has to be a compelling argument to not buy Canikon but buy Pentax... I realize that Pentax has to not devalue itself, a bottom of market strategy is never viable long term. What price point is it? No idea but but im gonna guess 500 is going to be the ballpark.
When released, price on K-500 (with kit lens) was $600, and K-S1 will probably be priced similar to that.
Nikon D3300 was released at $650 with kit lens, Canon SL1 was priced $800 with kit lens when released.

Release price has to be high so you can discount it in November.

Or put in a free 35mm plasticfantastic lens at the start. With a voucher or so.

The LED around the shutter button could be a very nice feature. FI it could glow green in photography mode, and red in video mode.
Flashing red could mean that no memory card is inserted, or that battery is depleted.

No. No. Your hand will be digitally imprinted on the grip, so only you can use it. The LEDs will light up green when it registers your hand. If someone else tries to use it, it will flash red and self destruct.

From what I saw, same battery as K-r/K-30/K-50/K-500, but I doubt there's room for AA in this.

I just saw the video. Who releases something that shakes that much?

Anyway, in the hands of that guy, it's TINY. I like that. So, I'll be paying attention, but in all likeliness, it's not for me. Still, I hope it does very well.

If it's the same battery as the K-R, then it'll take the AA adapter that fits the K-R.

Not necessarily. I have a K-r, and the battery doesn't take the whole battery compartment (the AA adapter does).

Legit?! That's a requirement for sure. Oh the possibilities...
