Maybe it's just me, but instant-sharing on the web kind of takes away the "fun" part because people get more excited on the reactions they're gonna get from other people viewing their posts than enjoying the actual moment while still at it.
Yup, that's the social-media world. Last year there was a guy who live-tweeted his mother's death. I find it , but that's just me. I've also read of people posting tweets/facebook updates of horrible things happening to them (home invasion, etc) instead of calling emergency/911.

BTW...the term "develop" is a throwback for digital post-processing in the same way that "drive" is a throwback for controlling an automobile in motion. Technically, there is no team of animals pulling the car, but we "drive" their petroleum/electrical equivalent none-the-less.
Exposing is still sort of exposing - and at least printing is still printing - but Horsepower?

No, it is a practical necessity for when your notion of what the photo is supposed to look like conflicts with that of the engineers at Ricoh.

Totally agree; but they (and us) have to play within the practical constraints of JPEG.

In-camera development; if it were a bit more intuitive/interactive, would be a step in the right direction. Something like Mattebox or Snapseed on a smartphone.

The whole domain of final display is a mess. The lowest common denominator is JPEG (8-bit color) and sRBG. If the whole world suddenly migrated to something like PNG, we would still have the issue of color space and the limitations of display devices (including printers).

As for in-camera development...my personal interface needs are a little deeper than what can be addressed with the multi-function controller or even a touch screen. I only use in-camera development as a last option in times of necessity.

It should be 399 euro with single kitlens.
Read that first time as Kittens.

Nope...I owned the K10D. The K-S1 might be its midget cousin though.

So how many kittens would you like Ricoh to put in the box next to the K-S1 for the 399 euro?

No kittens here, but I don't doubt Duncan will try to squeeze into the box when I turn my back..

Ah here's the shot I sought - no box too small

That kittlens looks like it's soft through most of the range, but sharp at the extreme ends.

Also lack contrast through most of the range, with improvement towards the ends

Hoopsontoast was replying to something I edited from my post - about spotting a different camera in the video at 28 seconds.
The reply popped up after I hit send on the edit.
