They've tested this. Turns out the KS-1 is a choking hazard. Plus, resale value for previously licked cameras is almost zero.
Warning Label: The K-S1 is only for licking, not swallowing.

For Sale: Lightly used and licked K-S1, some flavor remains on the body, thought not as sweet as it was originally. Make an offer.

I thought the K-5 got great reviews. 35mm Limited was called the best lens ever by some reviewer. Etc, etc, etc. Photozone is pretty unprejudiced in my view. Etc.
If only he tested more bodies and more lenses..... but then again, how much can one guy do?

Apart from blowing the review of the 18-135, he's been really good. And that is a function of applying a standard that really didn't recognize the strengths of the lens. If he were to change his standard it would negatively affect his ratings of primes..., so what's a guy to do? I sure wish he'd do some K-3 testing though. although I have no idea how he pays himself to do what he does. However he does it, I'm guessing he doesn't get much money from Pentax users.

But then someone would use the silica gel as sprinkles on their K-s1 ..and the R.Pentax lawsuits begin
Would be perversely fun to read the lawsuit though.

Don't laugh too loud. Vincent van Gogh ate Cadmium Yellow because he wanted to get the colour inside him.

Well caught. In the US video, K-S1 was all about frolicking pool-side teens. In Japan it seems a more mixed audience, in the tradition of the K-x and the other colour-cameras that have been released.

But to be fair, I haven't seen any Japanese or European K-S1 marketing videos yet.

Anyone out there able to poorly Photoshop that lime K-S1 into other incongruous scenes, either famous or stock? :-D

When a camera department has to buy a stock photo and then poorly photoshop one of their new products into that photo for a worldwide ad campaign, something is wrong.
If it's not a shortage of funds, then it is poor management.

I consider the K-S1 an intermediate DSLR. It is a compromise between a fully integrated mobile device and a DSLR. It has the potential for being an excellent video device but is missing a few key aspect (articulating LCD). Size is excellent. Design is nicely backwards compatible. Sensor and ISO performance looks outstanding. But the oddball interface stuff looks like a halfhearted move towards integration, almost panicky in its in-house attempt to play "catch-up".
If memory serves, we've been told that this is the start of a new product line. If so, perhaps this was just cobbled together to fill in the line up, and serious work is happening behind the scenes to address these missing key aspects. I think the product positioning is smart: luring Instagram obsessives into an upgrade.

Perhaps they had two versions? I know when I worked at a large company, there would be a 'conceptual' ad that was approved before the real ad.

The conceptual one could've been something like the poorly-photoshopped one...
