Official Photokina Predictions Thread

I personally think this is the year we get at least a small hint at a 35mm Pentax K mount...of some form or fashion. Even if it's just a box with a 35mm sensor surrounded by the SR mechanism with a statement saying "first 35mm DSLR with SR technology"

I think Pentax will announce....absolutely nothing

Best of both worlds: If I'm right, I can say I told you so; if I'm wrong I'll be pleasantly surprised.

In all seriousness, I'm hoping for a lot more, but my hopes and their expos have not lined up since the K-5.

K-S1 will probably get full announcement before the show. I think Ricoh may show mid range one that is using same sensor but more traditional like K-50. FF is probably next year...after Sony and Nikon are on the way to next sensor revision. Maybe they will give some hints. I feel they are almost due to unveil a MILC.

I am beginning to think that SR cannot handle FF sensor well , same as MF sensor; it's too big for the SR ~ so yeah, no FF for those who are waiting

Well with a new camera/lens for each line Q-, K- and 645-mount there are 6 new products (Q-S1, K-S1, 645Z, Q-macro, 645 28-45 and K-telezoom). Then maybe some new MX-1/GR. So some new gadget and then maybe it is that.

Well really I've never claimed anything because I know nothing - and I often say I know nothing. If I actually know something, such as when I've actually spoken with a Ricoh employee, i state that directly. If I hear or read something noteworthy I say I've heard or read, usually with a link. If I merely think something I write, I think," or, "IMHO."

And then from time to time I make an outrageously ridiculous post such as the one above, presuming use of sarcasm indicators is unnecessary.

I say the K5 series will be discontinued. No more K5II or K5IIs. The K3 will be the crop sensor camera for Pentax. I also think they launch a 35mm camera.

Haha that is amusing.. especially since the survey was created AFTER the entry level body was leaked.

Does this mean there is roughly a 40% margin of error in this survey? Perhaps this helps the FF supporters though.. with only 26% optimism, they could use the boost.

I would like an ultra-wide, ultra-fast PC lens for K mount. By ultra-wide I mean like 20 or 24mm.

What would I really like Pentax to do? I would actually like Pentax to be the company that releases a digital sensor and memory card that fit into old film cameras -- especially Pentax film cameras. And I don't think that would cut into DSLR sales. I do think it would give people who want a DSLR an entry point -- pick up a $5 Spotmatic, pop is a $150 sensor (seriously -- it only needs to be like 6 or 10 MP), and we're off to the races. Then people will naturally upgrade to Pentax DSLRs. Of course, if they could make that, they could make an FF DSLR...

Yee-haw, we're off to the races. I like how 15% think a new mirrorless model will be announced by Ricoh. These are difficult decisions for all the makers. It will be interesting to see what directions they head, or if they stay the course - best of luck to them.
