What about a Pentax/ricoh patent on that btw, Falk?
I guess they have their floating sensor drive patented. And the additional applications it allows, rotation (horizon control), astro tracking, AA simulation etc. But I didn't check. The electromagnetic drive with hall sensor feedback loop is a patent, I've read it.

Right. Thanks.
It was said (and I'm careful, really, that's why I used 'said') that years ago, Pentax actually had patents related to in lens stabilization although they never produced it.
I never found a thing and I believe this is nothing but thin air but I'm still curious.

They don't need a patent to produce a lens; of course it's likely that they have a patent if they produce some new technology.

Or at least a patent licence from somebody else.

$Sure but those rumours were about the FA line, which supposedly was, at first, destined to be both stabilized and WRed.
Well, that's what was said.

Hi, folks. Bumping this old thread for a reason. I was in my fave Pentax dealer in town today talking to the camera department manager. He mentioned that because of the new KAF4 mount, Sigma was going to be releasing a K mount version of their 150-600 zoom "soon". Take it for what it is worth.

That could explain the firmware update for the K3

That would be fantabulous if true.

But will the 150-600 work with the 1.4 TC?

Why not?
As far as electric connectivity's hardstuff is concerned, K-AF4 didn't change the game.

I still hope they'll make it in the KAF3 mount. I'd like to have one and use it on my K-5II.

Same low reliability rumors (that is not critisizing you) were circulated by some German dealers three weeks ago.

Sigmas lens sales probably took just the same nose dive as Nikon's and Canon's.
Sigma simply can not afford their old arrogance any longer. They need every potential buyer they can get.
What do you think why every small beginner lens company is offering their lenses in K mount / KAF3? Because it is not feasible?

So even while the sources are not really good ones, expecting more consumer lenses (those with the broadest appeal to soccer moms) from third parties makes sense. Don't expect primes. Mommy wants to zoom.
The Sigma 24-105 was mentioned to be "evaluated" as well btw.

That would maybe be a problem. The result is 1.4 x 6.3 = f8.8 So maybe there will be no auto focus in the camera working.

As today's Canikon TC's don't work with such a zoom ... and don't either with Bigma
Please stop BS
