Considering the smiley in his post, my first using the expression "big announcement" and my bouncing smiley, I'm not so sure...

Well I don't see anyone else announcing iBooks for Photokina, so there's that at least.

"iBook"? I would have thought Apple still holds the copyright for that...
They definitely do, Ricoh Imaging Germany's 'iBook-Serie' announcement pertains to the following iBooks:

What comes from living so close to Stanford :^|

Too bad Pentax didn't patent a green button
Nikon has buttons with green on...
Surely would have been worth a few quick bucks to claim an infringement or two.

In some situations it absolutely will. For example, an ISO 6400 shot is going to be cleaner with a FF than an APS-C. Regardless, not many "average consumers" are going to spend $2000 or more on a camera body anyway. Those spending that much usually know what they're getting and why they want it.

I'm not saying there aren't advantages, I just don't buy this "I've waited long enough" line. If someone needed FF they would have left already. If they want FF because, well, it's the next thing, that's fine, but the pronouncements and declarations are just drama.

FF is the new megapixels.
You are not wrong, but not 100% right either...
The facts are :
- we are witnessing through the years [many, many] more ex-pentaxists leaving the brand to go to FF competition than to APS-C competition,
- K mount is FF born, with quite a number of FF legacy glasses new (in current catalogue) or old just waiting for this potential to be expressed,
- Ricoh has been claiming its' willingness to "invest boldly the FF market" about 2 years ago... luckily for their credit, with no timing indication.

Now of course, the upgrade doesn't change photography skills, if such is your issue.

But for sure now, the last ones to wait, will not any more.

You'd be surprised. I've seen a lot of people handling thousands of $$$ of equipment and clearly not knowing what they are doing. Many of those asking for the best have more money than sense. Or even more money, so sense is not required.

TBH, not that many average consumers are going to spend up for the K-3 or K50 (or competitors) versus the K-500. Most consumers who want an ILC at all are going to buy something some high school girl in a vest got off a pallet of boxes in the security cage.

Remember the days when those best deals came out of the truck of a Chevelle.
Everything has gone big box commercial, now :^|
