Originally posted by Uluru I am more amazed that if this is true, will more likely lead to revamp of the (entire?) 645 lens series, in order of depletion of the old stock. So when an old lens is gone, a new one but with a leaf shutter will jump in?
Which is unbelievable, considering that it is ok to redesign 645 lenses, and semi-publicly announce it, but not ok to finally introduce a pair of kit lenses for the K-mount with a decent motor? I wonder how many billions of screw drive 18-55 they have produced they can't exhaust the stock?
I don't follow this reasoning. If the 645z is designed to support both in-camera focal plane shutters and in-lens leaf shutters, then why is there a need to redesign or revamp anything? Maybe this represents just one or two new special purpose lenses.
The traditional Pentax 645 lenses will still work and be well suited for many situations, while people who want or need the characteristics of leaf shutters will have a couple of new options. That's good!
