What can we infer from that "large diameter" wording? Also "large(r) image circle"?
70-200ish f/2.8 full-frame lens.

Did anyone actually pre-order the lens and can give us his/her first impressions at the end of November?

What's that, price goes up x1.5 for every added letter?
DA < FA < DFA < DFA*...
...looks expensive!

The PentaxForums staff are probably on it right now. Won't be long before a first impressions article.

Looking forward to it. I don't know if I can justify a $700+ zoom to myself (or my wife...), but even if I could, this lens would have to be pretty darn great to take a place in my bag instead of some other zooms in that price range. My only zoom is the 18-55, and I just rarely mount it. Would a more premium zoom make me want to use it more? I'm willing to test that hypothesis...

Have a couple of 18-55's, they came with various cameras purchased over the years, used them only once but the DA* 50-135mm f2.8 on the other hand... man what a lens! One of my most used lenses, a quality Pentax zoom is certainly worth the price of admission and a valuable asset to your kit.

I love using my DA* 60-250. Lightroom shows I've used it for 3856 shots. My Lightroom Lens Usage and subcategory of Unknown lenses usage
Even though it's my largest lens, I love the quality photos, feel, AW protection and zoom length. I only used the 60-250 under 85mm length for about 750 shots. Even when I had the 55-300, I only used it for 344 shots because I didn't liked the jerky operation of the zooming and the photo quality. The next most used lens is the Sigma 35mm Art at 2484 shots.

I've used many other lengths in 16-85mm zoom range but mostly for quality and bokeh. Only reason I own the 18-135 is for waterproof and zoom variety. I'm going to sell the 18-135 as I only used it for 222 shots that were all just ok shots. I prefer to take the DA *55 and use my waterproof case for wider angle.

It really goes without saying, you aren't going to get standout images with a lens, if you don't use it in standout situations. If you aren't using it, sell it. Someone else will get a great deal.

Personally, I have lots of top notch images taken with my copy of that lens, but hey... every situation is different.

Hmm, looks encouraging so far.

But I did want to see a full-size image taken at 85mm.
