As for the 100-450, again 2 switches on the left hand side of the lens, same question as above, but what looks like a focus lock on the right so it's not a IF lens.

And crucially, how's the optical performance stack up against offering from other manufacturer
The 70-200 is probably a FF lens so I'd expect one of the switches to be an OS activation switch.

Let's hope that Pentax will accomodate lens sr as well als ibis. For long lenses in lens stabilisation is better. So just turn of sr when detecting a stabilized lens. You would have the best of both worlds and Tamron/Sigma wouldn't have to omit it from their lenses for Pentax any more. When really adventurous they could even try to combine lens and body sr, for super stabilisation.
The problem is that it would most likely end up atleast 30% more expensive and slightly heavier, both enought to scare away enough buyers to do more harm than good.

I know the debate has moved on a little from the 16-85mm, but I still want my two-penn'orth. If it is offered as a kit zoom, and is priced between the 18-55 and the 18-135, I think it makes quite a lot of sense. It is quiet, so maybe it can get rid of reviewers' perennial whine about the whine.... (sorry). Also, 24mm equivalent FoV is the new 28: I certainly find 16mm much more useful than 18mm for my photography. Finally, although it is relatively slow, is this such a big deal for most people, especially ones who maybe never buy a second lens? With ISO on Auto, and good performance up to 3200, f5.6 is not such a bad deal for general use, especially outdoors, where its weather sealing comes to the fore. I just hope it is not priced too close to the 18-135, and is a bit better optically.

In generell those 16-85 lenses are more expensive as the 18-135, look at Nikon or Canon. I hope this is an optically better option as the 18-135!

It doesn't work. Saw a video a few years ago using Olympus. With stabilization on in both body and lens, the shake went wild. They were each interfering with each other.

I call dibs on the first 100-450mm in Australia... My sigma 100-300mm f/4 that does not have a focus limiter has been really bugging me lately.

The middle big lens (the ~450mm one) seems to be of the IF (Internal Focusing) type. So easy to make it fully weather resistant (the gold ring). The third one, the 70-200mm version, is not and that's why there's a zoom lock on it.
But the 16-85 is clearly labelled WR. Isn't the gold ring a hint of a * lens?

Other way to see it is that DA 18-135 is too pricey for what it brings.
I was hoping this 16-85 could be a f2.8-4 to be a flagship kitlens for K3 and upcoming APSC body but from what we know now I only see it as a useful replacement of 18-55.
I do not see this 2mm difference between 16 and 18 a big enough argument to compete against perfect walkround lens that is 18-135

The High Magnification Super Zoom / Tele Zoom : http://news.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/rim_info/3_telephotozoomlens_photokina2014.jpg seems to have four buttons:

- zoom lock on top (in the picture below)
- focus lock in the middle (the round one)
- AF/MF switch and focus limiter on the bottom.

Indeed, the lens below is the Large Diameter Zoom / * Tele Zoom http://news.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/rim_info/2_telephotozoomlens_photokina2014.jpg.

Seriously? On APS-C, the difference between 16 and 18 is *big*. Especially as the 18-135 isn't too strong at the long end.

It doesn't work because both systems don't know about each other. So the sensor goes hay wire. You'd have to make them act as one system of sr. But an automatic or selectable sr-choice (in body in lens or neither) would also be fine.

I've posted this on "front page" but it's still «pending approval», so I'll re-post here (also on DPR):

PentaxIsDoomed™ , as many say. The corporate grim reaper on the other hand, seems to have left Pentax's doorstep again.

It's not big as in huge, but a very useful extension. Probably around 10 degrees or more FOV. I think it's a welcome feature. But I wonder why the name is still "tentative" -- what else can be added (or omitted) in this lens' name? (Still hoping for it to be 3.5-4.5 aperture max aperture!)

That large diameter telephoto looks gorgeous to me. When it comes out, I might have the ability to just buy it outright.
