The lens described in Table 14 of the patent definitely is. Y = 21.64 is the radius of the image circle in millimeters thus the latter's diameter is equal to 43.28mm.

And √ (24² + 36²) = 43.27mm.
This. Patents usually have the diagonal/2 listed somewhere.

Why waiting in vain? No release date was ever mentioned. Only that they were working on them. Release to stores will likely be late summer or fall of 2015 unless issues develop in which case it might be pushed into 2016. Release will be at the same time as the FF camera body so release date will depend not only on the lens development but on the camera as well. And since any FF body will also need a 24-70, that lens must be in development also.

So nothing will be seen until FF body, 24-70, 70-200 and 100-400 are all complete. We can also wish for a 14-24 but I think that will come later.

They will launch the new K-mount DSLR and kit lens before launching these lenses. Probably early November, together with the full frame k-mount DSLR.

They need more if they want to be taken seriously and get Pentaxians to invest.

They haven't announced the 24-70 yet, nor the 12-24 or the 28-105 That would give too much away.

Last I heard was 9 months from late August, 2014 on the FF unless there has been some sort of issue not reported. We'll have at most a two week 'Incoming' alert.

There are other items in the release stream, at least one Ricoh branded item, and apparently the next Pentax body will be revealed in a couple weeks..

Hey, has anyone made a review or a test of the new 16-85mm lens yet?

I expect the camera to be damned expensive too. I hope it is at least 36mp.
Camera designer always has to balance between ISO and sharpness considerations.

For example, while the existing Canon 3Diii, a 22MP camera has a max ISO of 25600
Canon EOS 5D Mark III DSLR Camera (Body Only) 5260B002 B&H Photo
the new Canon 5DS, with its 50MP sensor, has a max ISO of "only" 6400

This is not true.

For instance, the 36MP sensor from Sony has the same noise performance as its 16MP predecessor.

Canon probably limited the high ISO on their 50MP model to ISO 12800 (extended) to prevent customers complainig about higher ISO images when zooming in to 100% magnification. Per pixel performance will indeed be worse compared to a low MP version, but it is the overall image that counts.

Insane ISO settings such as ISO 102400 just produce artificially pushed images anyhow; one will be able to do this with the 50MP images as well, just later in post-processing instead of in-camera.

Canon themselve state "... the noise performance is still superior to that from the 5D Mark II, while the dynamic range performance is on the same level as the 5D Mark III.“.

Canon isn't known to react like that. Somehow there's something else IMO.
