Oh no, you touched the nerve of the DA 15 club. Here they come....

For slow and deliberate composition

As far as SR switch, I thought I would miss that from K20...
But the INFO button on K5 remembers my last selection (almost always SR) and I click a wheel and SR is on/off... not hard. I use Fx button so I access drive modes without having to disable focus point selection on 4-way buttons. This would work as well on K3?

Not as easy as clicking SR switch 'with my eye at the viewfinder'... but I just haven't found that many times when I can't anticipate needing SR... Rarely find myself framing a picture and thinking 'I need to hit the turbo switch' without removing my eye from the finder :^)

What are the THINKING?!!!!
Shouldn't " HD DFA* 70-200 / 2.8 ED AL (IF) SDM "
Be written as " HD DFA* 70-200 / 2.8 AL (WHEN) SDM "

I think things are pretty solid for this lens
Less rumor, really, and just a matter of release date

K-1 FF (IF) still makes sense, of course

K200D lays better in hand. And SR switch is on the body.

But I mean a bit diiferent things...Wrong understanding. I didn't mean that Pentax couldn't be used for professional work.

But it's not D4S. Not EOS-1DX. Am I wrong?

---------- Post added 09-19-2014 at 02:57 AM ----------

I don't understand why Ricoh stopped to develop new primes....I see that other brands started to offer different interesting primes. but not Ricoh. It's a pity.
I have no any other complaints to Pentax, to say honest. I like camera and lenses. I've just bought plastic-fantastic DA50/1.8. And I like it.

I see misunderstanding of my position.

As for FF - I don't understand Ricoh's policy at all.
The cameras you mention as professional cameras are ones that I would describe as sports cameras. I do not think Pentax will venture into that area of the market, even if they release full frame. Slower frame rate, decent auto focus are what we are looking at. But most people, even professionals, do not need cameras at the level of the EOS-1DX or D4S. Even most of Nikon and Canon's options are not specified at those camera's levels.

When shooting these wide angles you should always stop down a bit. The only reason to should wide open is for close-ups where you want to achieve a bokeh effect. You don't need sharpness in OOF areas. Use the lenses as they are intended and they perform fine. Should wide open when it is not needed? Then you just suck at photography.

The shooting with fast wide-angle lens is HUGE advantage to make picture in low light, make landscapes or street-photos at the evening without tripod.
If the lens is sharp wide-opened, you can shoot at lower ISO and get high IQ.

Look...GR's lens is sharp from corner to corner at f2.8.
Tokina 11-16/2.8 is working lens wide-opened at all focal range.

Fuji 23/1.4 is the gem.

I don't live in USA. Is there in Europe? This item couldn't be sent to Russia.

And DA14 is not good at 16 MP. The price is very high now. Don't you think so? It seems to me it's closeout.

Ok, now this is getting annoying. You have all the right to be depressive, negative, whatever. But spreading lies in a public forum - that just shows you have an agenda.

It's alive and well in the Ricoh Imaging website. PENTAX - smc PENTAX DA 14mm F2.8 ED IF

Now if your specific distributor doesn't have it, that's a different thing. But it's not discontinued.

Sounds like a distributor issue. Maybe they don't believe they can sell them for 900 dollars. I could understand that, but it does seem like it is available everywhere but Russia.

Like I said, if your Russian distributor doesn't have it for sale at the moment (but has the 16-45), that doesn't mean it's discontinued. I've shown you it's available in the US. It's available in Japan as well. So, certainly not discontinued. Wide-Angle Lenses / K-mount Lenses / Lenses / Products | RICOH IMAGING

Just get your facts right.
