Is that so?!? Cool! Point be to where they confirmed that they're still developing primes please. Can't see any on the roadmap.

I guess that they don't consider to update the road map, because, maybe, they don't know what will be finished until the launch of the FF, and also, because their philosophy of communication, if we can call it so, is to tell nothing until the last week. But I think that they need to come with something more than those two zooms.

Since the launch of DA 15mm f/4 Limited and with the exception of DA 560mm f/5.6, none of the latest K mount prime lenses ever appeared on a roadmap before their announcement (HD DA Limiteds, DA 50mm f/1.8, DA 40mm f/2.8 XS, DA 35mm f/2.4, DFA 100mm f/2.8 macro WR).

Probably, their PR manager was a former Area 51 employer.

Because that is a major factor in what makes DSLR shooters buy DSLRs as opposed to smaller mirrorless cameras.

Tele-zooms is exactly what sets DSLRs apart. That is why the Canon and Nikon line-ups are full of that glass.

Primes = business as usual with Pentax

I understand people's frustration with new zooms and lack of fast primes (it is the reason why I have so many Sigma EX lenses). Zooms mean flexibility, they're not intended for advanced users but for the new Pentax buyers. Try to understand folks, Pentax wants to increase market shares meaning it has to attract "smartphone" users (as they put it) who want to produce better quality pictures. It's no secret that apart from DSLR Pentax hasn't offered anything substantial in the past 4 years (Depending on how you feel about the da 20-40mm). IT IS THAT SIMPLE. The other Da* zooms are years old. That said people should be excited for the new zooms especially the D-Fa ones they're introducing. If the past Da* zooms are any indication these should be great products rivaling other manufactures in their categories. I haven't done any research on the matter, but I'd bet my savings that when confronted with the choice (say Sigma 300mm f2.8 vs Sigma 120-300mm f2.8) most photographers opt for the zoom. Pentax is putting more zooms on the hands of their entry-mid level users, that's where their priorities lie. For advanced users, progress is going to be slow (FF is the case in point), and the pickings slim. Pentax needed a 100-400MM+ lens and the thew superzoom seems to be that lens. The 70/80-200 its the icing on the cake (I have a feeling It's going to be a great lens if the FA 80-200 is any indication)

A bit more about entry level photography: I cannot overstate my appreciation for the PentaxForum the way it helps people troubleshot and improve their skills. I think the traffic on the sight and the expedient answers to people's questions are a very unique and invaluable thing. PF is one of the reasons that Pentax entry-mid level users better inform themselves, buy gear and continue to improve. As a contrast I have a good friend who's an entry level canon RebelXTuser but has never moved past the kit lens. She takes photography seriously, and goes over hoops to get the angles she needs (and does an amazing job at getting the most out of her camera but she has plateaued. I'm considering buying her a Canon 50mm f1.8 prime for her birthday). I believe that many new DSLR user rely heavily on their zooms, (the 18-135mm gets lots of mileage) and many people would pay for a good 18-200+ lens (most advanced users looking for superior IQ wouldn't)

The future is Zoom, Zoom...

We have only TWO slow primes for wide-angle - DA15/4 and 21/3.2 - the both have weak corners.

What are they THINKING?!!!!
